Penn strikes early and holds off Brown 21-14

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Alek Torgersen threw for 284 yards and two scores and Penn scored all its points in the first half to defeat Brown 21-14 on Saturday.

Torgersen threw TD passes of 67 yards to Justin Watson and 17 yards to Christian Pearson to put Penn (5-2, 4-0 Ivy League) out in front. Tre Solomon punched it in from 1 yard with 22 seconds left before halftime.

Watson caught 11 passes for a career-high 210 yards. He became the first Penn wide receiver to register 200-plus yards in a game since 2003 when Dan Castles had 204 against Yale.

Brown (2-5, 1-3) scored both its touchdowns in the third quarter on a 1-yard run by Thomas Linta and a 2-yard score by Johnny Pena.

Linta threw for 216 yards, Livingstone Harriott had 16 carries for 85 yards and Garrett Swanky five catches for 100.

The Quakers have won 10 straight Ivy League games.
