Mississippi State QB Prescott injured in fight at concert in Florida

Updated Mar. 5, 2020 12:58 a.m. ET

Mississippi State quarterback Dak Prescott was injured during a fight at a concert in Panama City, Fla., on Monday afternoon while vacationing during spring break, a school spokesman said.

Bill Martin said he spoke with Prescott about the fight, which also involved teammates Torrey Dale and Damian Williams. Martin said Prescott suffered facial cuts after being hit with a bottle, but did not have to go to the hospital and police were not involved.

Prescott appeared bloodied and dazed in photos and video that surfaced on social media Monday.

However, Prescott tweeted on Monday night that he is OK:

According to multiple reports, the incident took place outside a Waka Flocka Flame concert. The rapper was scheduled to perform at Club La Vela at noon ET on Monday.

Martin said Prescott did not want to press charges and the three players are headed back to Starkville.

According to the The Clarion Ledger, Mississippi State has confirmed that Prescott and two of his teammates are recovering from the injuries.

Here are some images and a video posted to social media that appear to be from the incident -- at least two other videos also appearing to be from the fight have since been removed from Instagram. Warning: Some may find these images disturbing; video contains profanities.

Sports Illustrated’s Maroon & White Nation cited sources as saying “Dak was backed into a corner and surrounded, then jumped by a fairly large number of people. Reason is unknown.”

"We got jumped for no reason," read a tweet from the unverified account of backup QB Damian Williams before it was deleted. "It's sad we can't go anywhere without being attacked by people."

According to MSU beat writer Brandon Walker, police said no arrest has been made.

Prescott is coming off a junior season in which he finished eighth in voting for Heisman Trophy and led the Bulldogs to a 10-3 record and a five-week stretch as the No. 1 team in the nation. Prescott threw for 3,449 yard and 27 touchdowns and rushed for another 986 yards and 14 scores last season.
