Miami Hurricanes National Signing Day: WR Evidence Njoku

Miami added a legacy wide receiver in Evidence Njoku. Njoku looks to replace “big” brother David’s 1st round talent & play making ability. Njoku has the speed to get over the top and a wing span the size of a Boeing 777.

Head Coach Mark Richt and position coach Ron Dugans are all smiles at the proposition of another Njoku on campus. Njoku joins a very talented group of receivers in the class of 2017. Njoku is part of a class of talented playmakers.

Miami was lacking play makers on the perimeter last season. David Njoku and Ahmmon Richards were Brad Kaaya’s primary big play targets in the passing game. Stacy Coley added a steady sure handed receiver.

BIO– 6’6, 195lbs, Wayne Hills High School, Wayne Hills, NJ

RANK– ESPN (3- Star, #81 ranked wide receiver), 247 (3-Star, .8675 Sports Rating)

OFFERS – Georgia, Tennessee, Oregon

Analysis: Evidence Njoku is a tall fast recruit with a tremendous catch radius. Njoku shows the ability to get on top of defenders as a vertical threat and his sheer size instantly legitimizes him as a red zone treat.

Any quarterback would be salivating at the line of scrimmage once they noticed Njoku lining up vs. a smaller db. The 6’6 Njoku is a mismatch nightmare for smaller defenders. Fade routes are a staple on the goal line and don’t be surprised to see Njoku having his number called upon frequently in the red zone.

Some close to the program have interjected that he might continue to develop and outgrow the wide receiver position. Njoku seems driven to stay at the wide receiver and plans on leaving his own mark at Miami.

Wayne Hills High School ran a very simplistic passing offense and limited Njoku in the route tree. Njoku will have to increase his route running ability to fully assimilate into the college game. Anyone with Njoku’s DNA should be considered a strong candidate to become a major contributor offensively.

Njoku gives the Hurricanes incredible size. He will complement classmates Jeff Thomas, DeeJay Dallas (if he’s headed to offense) and Mike Harley. Offensive Coordinator Thomas Brown has to be excited about the additional playmakers on offense.
