Field goal lifts East Tennessee State over Samford 15-14

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) JJ Jerman kicked a 28-yard field goal as time expired Saturday to lift East Tennessee State past Samford for a 15-14 win.

The winning score capped a 10-play, 66 yard drive that included a 27-yard catch by Drake Powell and a 19-yard grab by Kobe Kelly. ETSU (5-6, 2-6 Southern Conference) pushed to the Samford 11 before running short on time, sending in the kicking team with two seconds remaining. It was Jerman's third field goal of the game.

Austin Herink completed 18 of 26 passes for 238 yards with two interceptions, and connected with Dalton Ponchillia on a 24-yard touchdown throw in the third quarter.

Samford (7-4, 5-3) had jumped to a 14-3 lead in the third quarter with a 14-yard touchdown run by K'rondis Larry. The Bulldogs got an earlier TD run from Roland Adams, who punched it in from the 4 in the first quarter.
