Vermont 75, Marist 67
Brian Voelkel had career highs of 23 points and 16 rebounds to lead Vermont over Marist 75-67 on Sunday.
The freshman, who also had five steals, was 6 of 10 from the field and 10 of 11 from the free-throw line as the Catamounts (7-2) won for the fifth time in a row over Marist (2-9).
Vermont outrebounded the Red Foxes 49-25 and scored 24 points off of 16 turnovers.
Marist had a 39-36 advantage with 18:51 remaining. But the Catamounts went on a 9-1 run to lead 45-40 with 15:44 left. The Red Foxes pulled back within one three times and tied it at 55 with 8:02 to play, but Vermont pulled away from there.
The Catamounts scored nine straight to lead 64-55 on Joey Accaoui's 3 with 4:26 to go.
Brendan Bald had 12 points, Matt Glass 11 and Accaoui and Evan Fjeld added 10 each for Vermont.
Sam Prescott scored 14 points for the Red Foxes.
