Savannah St upends South Carolina St, 76-64

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) Troyce Manassa scored 21 points and Savannah State won its sixth straight game with a 76-64 victory over South Carolina State on Saturday.

Manassa shot 5 of 10 from the field and hit all 10 of his free throws. Lenjo Kilo finished with 13 points and Brian Pearson added 10 for the Tigers (13-13, 8-6 MEAC).

Gabe McCray led South Carolina State (16-13, 11-4) with 16 points and six rebounds. Ed Stephens and Greg Mortimer had 11 points apiece for the Bulldogs, who were plagued by turnovers all game long, finishing with 19 total.

The Bulldogs held a 36-35 lead at the break but Savannah State opened the second stanza on a 15-4 run, capped by a Manassa jumper, for a 50-40 lead. Ty Soloman hit a jumper for the Bulldogs to cut it to 55-48 with 9:53 left, but a 10-2 Tigers run made it 65-50 and effectively iced it.
