Laster hits go-ahead 3, Loyola (Md.) beats Colgate 68-65
BALTIMORE (AP) Eric Laster scored 18 points and hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 8.4 seconds left to help Loyola (Md.) beat Colgate 68-65 Monday night.
Loyola pulled to 58-55 with 4:31 left on Franz Rassman's basket, which ended a five-plus minute scoreless drought. Rassman later grabbed an offensive rebound and found a wide open Laster under the basket. Laster's 3-point play tied it at 60-all with 3:10 left.
After forcing Colgate into a tough shot, Loyola dribbled down the clock and Laster hit his third and final 3-pointer for a 66-65 lead.
Chancellor Barnard had a key block on Colgate's next possession and was fouled after grabbing the rebound. He hit two free throws with 1.2 seconds left for a three-point lead and the Raiders' turned it over on a long pass.
Andre Walker added 17 points for Loyola (7-14, 6-4 Patriot).
Tom Rivard led Colgate (10-12, 6-5) with 19 points.
