Kennesaw St. knocks off Jacksonville 90-69, 2nd upset in row
KENNESAW, Ga. (AP) Yonel Brown scored 27 points with five 3-pointers, Kendrick Ray added 24 points and Kennesaw State upended Jacksonville 90-69 on Saturday, defeating one of the Atlantic Sun Conference's top teams for a second-straight game.
Brown and Ray, the highest scoring guard duo in the conference, combined for more than 40 points for the ninth time this season. Last Thursday the pair combined for 47 points as the Mountaineers upset A-Sun leader North Florida. Saturday, the Owls knocked off second-place Jacksonville.
Every time Kennesaw State threatened to run away, Jacksonville fought back until Ray sparked a 6-0 run giving the Mountaineers a 58-46 lead with 13:43 remaining and the lead stayed in double digits after that.
It was a second-straight upset loss for Jacksonville (15-13, 7-4), which was upset by Lipscomb on Thursday. J.R. Holder led Jacksonville with 18 points, Omar El Manasterly added 16 and Kori Babineaux 11.
