Idaho cools Eastern Washington 66-62

MOSCOW, Idaho (AP) Victor Sanders scored 16 points, Chris Sarbaugh added 12, and Idaho's defense helped the Vandals to a 66-62 win over Eastern Washington on Saturday.

Venky Jois' layup put the Eagles up 58-56 with 4:53 left, but Idaho answered with 3-pointers from Sanders and Perrion Callandret to give Idaho a 4-point advantage with 3:15 to play.

Neither team scored from the field the rest of the way.

Eastern pulled even at 62-all with a pair of free throws from Bogdan Bliznyuk and Julian Harrell.

Sanders made three free throws with 1:27 remaining to put the Vandals (18-11, 10-6) in front 65-62.

Eastern Washington (16-12, 10-6) entered with the fifth-best shooting efficiency (50.1 percent), but the Eagles shot just 43 percent, including a 0-for-7 finish.

Jois led the Eagles with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting and currently sits eight points behind Ron Cox for the school's career scoring record (1,741).
