Gophers hire Kyle Lindsted as assistant from Wichita State
MINNEAPOLIS (AP) Minnesota has hired Kyle Lindsted as an assistant coach, after he spent the last three seasons in the same role at Wichita State.
Gophers coach Richard Pitino announced the move on Friday, rounding out his staff. Pitino hired Rob Jeter last month, after losing two assistants to other programs. Kimani Young went to Connecticut and Ben Johnson departed for Xavier.
While Lindsted was on staff under coach Gregg Marshall, the Shockers went 82-22 and made the NCAA Tournament all three times. Before that, Lindsted was a high school coach and athletic director at Sunrise Christian Academy in Wichita for 15 years. The program produced 35 players who were NCAA Division I recruits, including Bakary Konate and Dupree McBrayer of the Gophers.
