Najai Hines - Loses 10 pounds
Hines has lost 10 pounds since his 2025-26 season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
For most of the NCAA's 2025-26 season, Hines weighed 278 pounds, much more than how much an average 6-foot-11 forward weighs. By losing weight, perhaps he can not only improve mobility but also increase playing time. For his career, Hines has less than 20.0 minutes per game, 18.0 exactly. Nonetheless, as part of Seton Hall, he averaged 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks, which earned him recruitment interest from Connecticut.

Najai Hines - Projected for starting five
Hines is projected to be part of the 2026-27 Huskies' starting lineup for their regular season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Even though Hines' collegiate career still includes zero starts, he earned not only Connecticut interest during the recent offseason but also an improved opportunity. Despite fewer than 20.0 minutes per game for Seton Hall, his statistical averages feature 5.5 rebounds and 2.2 blocks. UConn experienced firsthand how excellent Hines can be, as against the Huskies, he averaged 10.5 points, 9.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks.

Nikolas Khamenia - Starting five projected
Khamenia is projected to be part of the 2026-27 Huskies' starting lineup for their regular season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Even though Khamenia has never been a full-time starter, his sudden emergence as one would be unsurprising. After all, he logged significant minutes during Duke's 2025-26 season, his first year. Across 38 games, Khamenia not only averaged 19.7 minutes but also 5.7 points and 3.3 rebounds. If the rising sophomore's free-throw percentage (67.3) and minutes improve, he would be an excellent player next season.

Jayden Ross - Projected for starting five
Ross is projected to be part of the 2026-27 Huskies' starting lineup for their regular season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Also projected as a breakout candidate next season, Ross being part of the Huskies' starting lineup makes sense. After all, Solo Ball (wrist) is out for their 2026-27 season, and Ross' experience will be unparalleled. He mostly watched the 2023-24 Huskies earn championship glory and logged a regular role for last season's final-qualifying Connecticut. If there is any time for Ross to be a go-to player, now is his best chance.

Silas Demary Jr. - Big East Preseason POTY candidate
Demary (ankle) is a candidate to be Big East Preseason Player of the Year, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
Being a conference's Preseason Player of the Year often signals an excellent season for the student-athlete who earns said distinction. Rothstein stated that even with Demary's downs, he rose to the occasion in big moments, more impressive considering that his improvement was with powerhouse Connecticut. Alex Karaban and Tarris Reed both graduating, along with Solo Ball (wrist) out for UConn's 2026-27 season, allows freer rein for Demary next fall. He should improve his rates, his 2025-26 season's numbers featuring 12.8 points and 2.0 three-pointers made per game.

Jayden Ross - Breakout candidate for next season
Ross is a breakout candidate for the NCAA's 2026-27 season, according to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports.
Impact
The 2020s have seen Connecticut maintain consistent excellence despite an ever-changing college landscape, so it would be unsurprising if a lesser-known Husky takes a statistical leap next season. Ross' unparalleled experience and gradual growth make him a breakout contender, especially for a team now devoid of past championship winners for UConn. In the 2026 NCAA tournament, he averaged 4.0 points, 3.0 rebounds and 1.2 steals across more than 20.0 minutes per game. At worst, the expectation is that Ross logs a regular role during Connecticut's 2026-27 season.

Dzafic has committed to UConn for the 2026-27 season, Jonathan Givony of ESPN.com reports.
Impact
Dzafic will join the Huskies after playing with Arkansas this past season. The 7-foot center from Bosnia should add solid depth to a UConn roster that's already loaded.
