Lukas Nmecha - Out for season opener
Nmecha (undisclosed) will miss Saturday's season opener against VfL Bochum, manager Mark Van Bommel announced Friday.
Impact
Nmecha was preparing to begin his first full season with Wolfsburg after securing a permanent deal from Manchester City in July, but he will have to wait a little longer at least while he recovers from an injury.

Josip Brekalo - Limited to individual work
Brekalo did not participate in Wednesday's team training session, raising doubts regarding his availability against VfL Bochum on Saturday.
Impact
Brekalo started 22 of his 29 domestic appearances for the club last season in which he generated seven goals on 47 shots (21 on target), three assists, 58 crosses (19 accurate) and 39 corners. The team didn't provide any sort of injury indication, so it's possible a transfer is in the works which could open up for minutes for Joshua Guilavogui.

Renato Steffen - Back in team training
Steffen (ankle) is back in full team training, and should be ready for the season opener.
Impact
Steffen was sidelined for the Euros due to an ankle injury, and was questionable for the start of the season. A quick return to full training with the team implies that the midfielder will be ready for the upcoming season.

ROTOWIRE
Joao Victor - Dealing with illness
Victor was unable to practice with the team Tuesday due to a flu-like illness.
Impact
Victor only made three starts in 21 appearances last season, so even if he is healthy and available against Vfl Bochum on Aug. 14, he may struggle to break into the starting XI. As such, fantasy players shouldn't be banking on him providing much in the way of value.

Koen Casteels - Ready for start of season
Casteels (leg) has been training for a few weeks and is ready for the start of the new campaign after returning from a recent illness, reports Liga Insider.
Impact
Casteels had leg surgery near the end of last season, but he's been with the team since the start of camp and is expected to be good for the Aug. 14 opener. He started 32 matches last season and as long as he can stay healthy, he'll likely be the guy the entire way in 2021/22.

ROTOWIRE
Paulo Otavio - Suffers ankle injury
Otavio suffered a serious knee injury and will be out indefinitely, though no surgery is required.
Impact
Otavio managed to avoid the worst but his chances of playing when the Bundesliga season begins are now slim. He made 19 starts last season at left-back and could be replaced by Jerome Roussillon to open the season.

Maximilian Arnold - Sent off Thursday
Arnold was given a red card for a second yellow against Brazil on Thursday and will miss Germany's matchup with Saudi Arabi on Sunday.
Impact
Prior to being sent off, Arnold registered three crosses (one accurate) and one shot (off target). As such, he should be in the mix for a spot in the starting XI for the Group Stage finale versus Ivory Coast on July 28. Without Arnold in the lineup, Eduard Lowen could be in the mix for a spot in the starting XI against Saudi Arabia.

Lukas Nmecha - Heads to Wolfsburg
Nmecha has transferred to Wolfsburg on a permanent deal away from Manchester City.
Impact
Nmecha didn't have much of a future at Man City, so it made sense for him to move elsehwere. He'll hope to find a stable role at Wolfsburg where he was loaned to a couple seasons ago. At Anderlecht last campaign, he scored 18 goals in 37 appearances.

Sebastiaan Bornauw - Heading to Wolfsburg
Bornauw signed a five-year contract with Wolfsburg after transferring from Koln on Friday.
Impact
Bornauw is coming off a season where injuries limited him to 23 starts in 24 appearances, but he still managed to make 100 clearances and keep five clean sheets. After scoring an impressive six goals in the previous campaign, Bornauw is worth tracking if he can make the starting lineup of a more talented team capable of giving him consistent chances to help in the attack.

Aster Vranckx - Picks up calf strain
Vranckx suffered a calf injury in summer workouts and will miss an unspecified amount of time.
Impact
Vranckx will now have an even harder time of seeing playing time at the start of the new season, as he tries to recover from a muscle injury. He's already expected to face an uphill battle in his first Bundesliga campaign as an 18 year old and a calf issue adds to that.

Josuha Guilavogui - Rejoins team
Guilavogui (COVID-19) is back at training Thursday following his self-isolation.
Impact
Guilavogui should have plenty of time to get up to speed ahead of the season opener versus Vfl Bochum on Aug. 14. Last season, the midfielder made just seven starts in 20 matches and will likely struggle for consistent opportunities to feature in the starting XI this year as well making him a mid-range fantasy option at best.

Josuha Guilavogui - Tests positive for COVID-19
Guilavogui will miss the start of preseason training with Wolfsburg after testing positive for COVID-19, the club announced Thursday.
Impact
With over a month until the season opener against Hertha Berlin on Aug. 21, there should be plenty of time for the midfielder to recover and rejoin first-team training. Still, it's worth monitoring for fantasy players heading into draft season for the 2021-22 campaign.

Kevin Mbabu - Records assist in win
Mbabu assisted a goal and made an interception in Monday's 3-3 (5-4 after penalties) victory against France. He also won one of three tackles in the match.
Impact
Mbabu was a second-half substitute on Monday, and he set up Haris Seferovic's second goal, which gave his side new life after suffering through a poor 20 minutes against France. Switzerland got the better of their opponents in the penalty shootout and they advance to the quarterfinals, where a clash against Spain awaits.

Xaver Schlager - Creates three chances in win
Schlager took two shots (one on target) and created three chances in Monday's 1-0 victory against Ukraine. He also won four of four tackles in the match.
Impact
Schlager was a threat going forward and was solid in defense on Monday, keeping a clean sheet against Ukraine and clinching a spot in the Round of 16 for Austria. But he will face arguably the hottest team in the tournament right now Italy, which have topped Group A with three wins and three clean sheets.

Josip Brekalo - Plays one half in draw Friday
Brekalo had one chance created and one tackle won in Friday's 1-1 draw to Czech Republic.
Impact
Brekalo was very quiet in his first start and was quickly replaced after only 45 minutes on the pitch making a very limited impact. With just 65 minutes on the pitch from the two matches thus far he may be back to the bench for the final outing of the group stages.

ROTOWIRE
Maximilian Philipp - Staying in Germany
Philipp's buy option was exercised by Wolfsburg from Dynamo Moscow on Wednesday. In addition, the forward signed a four-year contract through 2025.
Impact
Considering Philipp registered six goals on 30 shots (16 on target), two assists and 13 chances created in 24 appearances this season, it shouldn't come as a surprise to see Wolves locking him up on a permanent basis. While Philipp made just 13 starts in those 24 matches, he should challenge for a more consistent spot in the starting XI heading into the 2021-22 campaign.

ROTOWIRE
Kevin Mbabu - Solid during opening match
Mbabu took two shots (none on target), made three tackles (won three), and created two scoring chances during Saturday's 1-1 draw against Wales.
Impact
Mbabu contributed in multiple statistical category as his defensive work rate matched his ability to get forward from his right wing back position. He's not as big of a household name as other outside defenders, but his stats in the first match could warrant consideration against Italy on Wednesday.

ROTOWIRE
Wout Weghorst - Scores in win over Ukraine
Weghorst scored a goal off two shots (both on target) and created one chance during Sunday's 3-2 win over Ukraine.
Impact
Weghorst showed why he was picked as a starter for the opening match and made most of the only clear chance he had during the entire match, giving his side a 2-0 lead in the 58th minute after a very poor clearance by the opposing defense. The striker will try to keep adding to his scoring account during Thursday's clash of group leaders against Austria.

ROTOWIRE
Kevin Mbabu - One option to start
Mbabu started during Thursday's pre-Euro friendly for Switzerland against Liechenstein.
Impact
Mbabu only started in one of the two games before the tournament but still has a good chance to start on the right-wing. A late-season surge saw him log 11 crosses, 11 tackles and create three chances in the last three games for Wolfsburg, so he should be riding a nice run of form into the Euros.
