Jonathan Vonheim Norbye - Recalled from loan Norbye was recalled from his loan at Arminia Bielefeld, his parent club announced.
Impact Norbye was sent on loan for the season to Arminia Bielefeld and played only eight games across all competitions, scoring once, which was not enough for his parent club Leipzig, who recalled him. The young center-back is back in Leipzig, and options will be explored to loan him out again, with the hope that he plays more in the second half of the season.
6 DAYS AGO • ROTOWIRE
Christoph Baumgartner - Logs in assist Baumgartner assisted once to go with four shots (one on goal) and three chances created in Saturday's 3-1 defeat versus Bayer Leverkusen.
Impact Baumgartner is ending the first half of the season on a high note, recording an assist Saturday. He's made 14 starts in 15 league appearances, scoring and assisting six times on 35 shots and 23 clearances.
DECEMBER 21 • ROTOWIRE
Xaver Schlager - Scores lone goal for Leipzig Schlager scored one goal to go with three shots (two on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and two chances created in Saturday's 3-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen.
Impact Schlager was the lone goal scorer for Leipzig during the loss, giving him two goals in the last five matches. He's made seven starts in 11 league appearances heading into the winter break, recording just the two goals with 16 tackles and 13 clearances.
DECEMBER 21 • ROTOWIRE
Peter Gulacsi - Lets in three Gulacsi recorded five saves and allowed three goals in Saturday's 3-1 loss versus Bayer Leverkusen.
Impact Gulacsi ends the first half of the season on a poor note, conceding six goals in just the last two appearances. He's made 15 Bundesliga appearances, making 38 saves with seven clean sheets and allowing 19 goals, a solid performance despite the last two results.
DECEMBER 21 • ROTOWIRE
El Chadaille Bitshiabu - Option Saturday Bitshiabu (strain) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Leverkusen.
Impact Bitshiabu has shaken off his strain and is with the team after training this week, with the defender an option from the bench. He was more of a depth option before the injury and is likely to return to that role moving forward.
DECEMBER 20 • ROTOWIRE
Ridle Baku - Returns to bench Baku (ankle) is on the bench for Saturday's match against Leverkusen.
Impact Baku has recovered from his ankle injury and is with the team Saturday, although the club appears to be taking his return cautiously with a spot on the bench. He will then use the break to ramp up his fitness, likely to return to a starting right-back role once fit.
DECEMBER 20 • ROTOWIRE
Hjulmand eager for Leverkusen to take advantage of rare week off at Leipzig Bayer Leverkusen have the chance to draw level on points with second-placed RB Leipzig when they visit Red Bull Arena this weekend.
DECEMBER 19 • BEINSPORTS.COM
Johan Bakayoko - Suffers relapse Bakayoko has suffered a relapse of his injury and is out for Saturday's match against Leverkusen, according to the club.
Impact Bakayoko has suffered a relapse of his strain and is hitting the sidelines, as the attacker will not be an option to face Leverkusen. Unfortunately for the club, this will force a change, as he started in their last outing, especially with Antonio Nusa and Yan Diomande also out, potentially forcing Conrad Harder to play more of a winger role. He will have the winter break to recover, hopefully, an option after a few weeks of recovery.
DECEMBER 18 • ROTOWIRE
Ridle Baku - Fit to face Leverkusen Baku (ankle) is an option for Saturday's match against Leverkusen, according to his club.
Impact Baku was expected to be out another match and return in the new year, but is now an option a match earlier, with the defender set to return against Leverkusen. The club will gain back its starting right-back ahead of the winter break, giving him further time to recover once he tests his legs. He has yet to miss a start until the injury, likely to return to that role once fit.
DECEMBER 18 • ROTOWIRE
Yan Diomande - Called up for AFCON Diomande was called up by Ivory Coast for AFCON, and will miss at least three weeks.
Impact Diomande is going to be away from Leipzig for three weeks at minimum while he plays in AFCON with Ivory Coast. The forward has been a big part of the starting XI throughout the opening half of the campaign, scoring six goals and adding two assists from the wing. Johan Bakayoko should push for a starting role with Diomande away from the club.
DECEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Ridle Baku - Trains individually Baku (ankle) was back in individual training Tuesday, according to his club.
Impact Baku is working on his recovery after two games out, with the defender back on the training field to work individually. This is massive news for the club, as the return of their right-back is nearing. However, Saturday's match against Leverkusen is likely too early, eyeing a return when facing St. Pauli on Jan. 10 after the international break.
DECEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Benjamin Henrichs - Partially training with team Henrichs (Achilles) is partially working with the team Tuesday, according to his club.
Impact Henrichs appears to be closing in on his return within the next few weeks, as the defender was working with a ball last week but is now training with his teammates in a limited manner. This will likely set him up to be an option again after the winter break when facing St. Pauli on Jan. 10. He still has yet to play all season, with the injury dating back to December of last season.
DECEMBER 16 • ROTOWIRE
Conrad Harder - Notches assist Harder assisted once to go with two shots (zero on goal), one cross (zero accurate) and two chances created in Friday's 3-1 defeat against Union Berlin. In addition, he was given a...
Impact Harder would receive an assist Friday, linking up with Tidiam Gomis in the 60th minute of the outing for the club's only goal. This does mark a second straight game with a goal contribution for Harder, earning an assist and a goal last time out. That said, that does account for all of his goal contributions this season, with three in 12 appearances (four starts).
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Tidiam Gomis - First goal of campaign Gomis scored one goal to go with one shot (one on goal) in Friday's 3-1 loss versus Union Berlin.
Impact Gomis would appear off the bench Friday and earned his first goal of the campaign, finding the back of the net in the 60th minute for the club's lone goal of the match. That said, this marks his first goal contribution all season as well, only his sixth appearance of the season. He will probably remain in a bench role moving forward.
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Peter Gulacsi - Concedes three against Berlin Gulacsi made three saves and allowed three goals in Friday's 3-1 defeat to Union Berlin.
Impact Gulacsi had himself a rough match Friday, with the keeper allowing three goals while only making three saves. This ends his three-match streak with a clean sheet, remaining at seven in 14 appearances this season. He will face Leverkusen in their final match ahead of the winter break, unlikely to see a clean sheet against a top team in the league.
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Werner - Available off bench Werner (strain) is on the bench for Friday's game against Union Berlin.
Impact Werner will add depth to an attacking line that's missing Antonio Nusa (ankle) and Romulo (knee) due to injury. He'll wait for his chance off the bench, though, as Conrad Harder will get the nod at the striker role once again.
DECEMBER 12 • ROTOWIRE
Timo Werner - Back available Friday Werner (strain) is back available for Friday's clash against Union Berlin, coach Ole Werner said in the press conference.
Impact Werner missed all the games since late September and only logged in one minute of play this campaign, but the striker is back available for Friday's clash against Union Berlin after recovering from a muscle injury. His return is coming at a perfect moment since Romulo (knee) and Antonio Nusa (ankle) are sidelined with injuries, and his addition will be welcome to help the team in the frontline.
DECEMBER 11 • ROTOWIRE
Benjamin Henrichs - Working with ball Henrichs (achilles) was viewed working with a ball Tuesday, according to his club.
Impact Henrichs is back in training this week, although in a limited manner, with the midfielder working with a ball. This is massive news for the defender who has yet to appear this season, having suffered the Achilles injury ahead of the campaign. He isn't expected to be an option for a few more weeks still, out until the new year.
DECEMBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
El Chadaille Bitshiabu - Trains with team Bitshiabu (strain) was back in team training Tuesday, according to his club.
Impact Bitshiabu was sidelined for a few weeks with a muscle injury but appears to be nearing a return, as the defender was able to train with his teammates. He will now continue to test his fitness and work towards Friday's match against Union Berlin, potentially fit for that match.
DECEMBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
Antonio Nusa - Could miss rest of year Nusa suffered an ankle injury in Saturday's 6-0 victory against Frankfurt and could miss the rest of the year, according to BILD.
Impact Nusa ended Saturday's larger victory against Frankfurt with an ankle injury that could make him miss the rest of the year to recover. The winger will for sure miss Friday's clash against Union Berlin and is already a doubt for next week's fixture against Leverkusen. Nusa has been an undisputed starter in the frontline of Leipzig this season, therefore his absence will force a change, with Yan Diomande likely starting on the right wing and Johan Bakayoko getting a starter role on the left side of the frontline.
DECEMBER 9 • ROTOWIRE
Nicolas Seiwald - Assist in win Seiwald grabbed one assist, created one chance and won his only tackle attempt in Saturday's 6-0 win versus Frankfurt.
Impact Seiwald assist was his first his first goal contribution on the season. The midfielder has been contributing in other ways. He now has four chances created, eight tackles won, and 12 clearances in his last six appearances. Hopefully Saturday' assist can get him involved more in the scoring but he has been a very important piece to both the defense and offense of Leipzig.
DECEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Peter Gulacsi - Clean sheet in win Gulacsi made two saves on eight shot attempts (two on target) in Saturday's 6-0 win versus Frankfurt.
Impact This man is on fire. His clean sheet Saturday makes it three in a row and seven on the season. While the saves numbers have been less than ideal (eight in his last four appearances), the clean sheet potential is as high as any goalkeeper in the world. Gulacsi will look to make it four in a row on Friday versus Berlin.
DECEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Conrad Harder - Goal, assist in win Harder scored one goal on four shots (two on target) and created two chances in Saturday's 6-0 win versus Frankfurt.
Impact For the third consecutive game Harder was in the starting lineup after coming off the bench the previous eight games and he turned in his best performance of the year. Logging 67 minutes with two goal contributions is exactly the spark Leipzig needed, look for Harder to stay in the starting lineup Friday versus Berlin.
DECEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
Christoph Baumgartner - Goal, two assists in win Baumgartner scored one goal on two shot attempts (one on target), created two chances and had two assists in Saturday's 6-0 win versus Frankfurt.
Impact In what quickly became a blowout, Baumgartner made his presence felt with a goal and two assists before being subbed off in the 67th minute with his team up 6-0. The goal was his first in his last five appearances, but the midfielder has added two assists during that span.
DECEMBER 8 • ROTOWIRE
David Raum - Scores in win Raum scored one goal on his only shot attempt, created three chances, and won two tackles in Saturday's 6-0 win versus Frankfurt.
Impact Raum stuffed the stat sheet in this lop-sided affair. The midfielder controlled the pace for much of the game registering two accurate crosses, three corners and winning both of his tackle attempts. Leipzig has been an elite team this year and it has been from performances like Raum's Saturday. He and the team will look to keep it rolling Friday versus Berlin.
