Despite World Cup heartbreak, Brighton's Pervis Estupinan will return a better player
Estupinan's Ecuador may have gone out in the groups, but the Brighton player's performances in Qatar were a reminder of his special talent

Seven crosses in WC finale
Estupinan sent in seven crosses (four accurate), made two tackles (one won) and added one interception and one clearance during Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Senegal.
Impact
Estupinan demonstrated quality going forward once again but was unable to find the score sheet during a matchup his country needed a result to advance. Fantasy managers will be fine with the performance, as he posted enough peripherals to help most lineups. In any event, the phenom winger will resume whipping in crosses for his Brighton outfit when EPL play returns in late December.

Sends nine crosses in 1-1 draw
Estupinan had one shot (one on goal), two chances created, nine crosses (two accurate), and two corners in Friday's 1-1 tie against Netherlands.
Impact
Estupinan was very active here and wreaked havoc in front of the Dutch goal. He's now mounted one clean sheet, three chances created, 12 crosses and four tackles from just two matches in the WC and should be a great fantasy asset for the group finale as well.

Does well in win
Estupinan helped to keep a clean sheet with four tackles made (three won) in addition to creating one chance on three crosses (one accurate) during Sunday's 2-0 win over Qatar.
Impact
Estupinan offered a solid showing to keep the hosts from getting too many clear chances on goal while also helping the dangerous Enner Valencia in the attack. If La Tri are to make further waves in the tournament, it could be on what Estupinan and Angel Preciado are able to do in addition to the attackers.

Going to World Cup
Estupinan made Ecuador's roster for the World Cup, it was announced Nov. 14.
Impact
Estupinan will be one of the biggest names for La Tri at this year's World Cup, as he's made eight starts in 11 appearances since joining Brighton in the summer. If Estupinan is able to find his stride, he could offer a dangerous threat to the rest of the group as an attack-minded fullback.

Starts, subs off at half
Estupinan sent in four crosses (two accurate) and made one interception during Friday's 2-0 defeat at Brentford. He added two tackles won and one clearance.
Impact
Estupinan was relieved at half time by Kaoru Mitoma in what was presumably a tactical shift by new manager Roberto De Zerbi. Solomon March shifted over for Estupinan at left wing back, while Mitoma manned the right flank. Regardless of strategy, Estupinan actually acquitted himself rather well in what was his fifth start (seven appearances) of the league season, albeit during limited run.

Busy in draw
Estupinan had three crosses (one accurate) and one chance created in Saturday's 3-3 draw versus Liverpool.
Impact
Estupinan got the starting during Saturday's draw and filled the stat sheet defensively, as well as creating a chance. The left-back has looked strong when called upon and with the international break behind him it's possible that Estupinan makes the job his own moving forward. Estupinan is a worthwhile fantasy option when in the starting XI, though with a hectic October ahead rotation could be on the cards even if he is the number one choice at left-back.

Creates two chances in debut
Estupinan subbed into Sunday's match against West Ham United in the 63rd minute, and he created two chances in the 2-0 victory.
Impact
Estupinan was already on the pitch Sunday less than a week after joining Brighton from Villarreal. He will likely take over as the starting left-back once he's fully integrated into his new team, allowing Leandro Trossard to play further up the field.

Signs with Brighton
Estupinan has completed a move to Brighton from Villarreal, the club announced Tuesday.
Impact
Following the departure of Marc Cucurella to Chelsea, it was always likely Brighton would look for a replacement left-back and it appears Estupinan is that man. He'll feature as a left-back when Brighton turn to a four-man back line and similar to Cucurella, he'll be used as a center-back when they go with three in the back. He totaled 29 league starts the last two seasons at Villarreal and isn't expected to see more time than that. Prior to Estupinan, Brighton didn't have any depth on the back line.

Creates chance in win
Estupinan subbed into last weekend's match against Barcelona in the 67th minute, and he created a chance and won one of one tackles in the 2-0 victory.
Impact
Estupinan assisted a goal and kept four clean sheets in 28 La Liga appearances (17 starts), and he also started seven Champions League games this campaign. The 24-year-old has become Villarreal's first choice left back ahead of Alfonso Pedraza.

On bench Thursday
Estupinan (ankle) was named to the match-day squad versus Rayo Vallecano on Thursday.
Impact
Estupinan had started four of his last five contests, in which he recorded one shot (on target), 10 crosses (two accurate) and 10 tackles (seven won). Even with the quick turnaround, the left-back could be an option for the starting XI versus Real Sociedad on Sunday.

Impact
The severity of Estupinan's injury is unclear at the moment, but with only three games left in the season it's possible he doesn't feature again for Villarreal this campaign. Alfonso Pedraza could fill in for him at left back against Rayo on Thursday if necessary.

Concedes own goal in loss
Estupinan conceded an own goal and a yellow card during Wednesday's 2-0 loss to Liverpool.
Impact
Estupinan also won two-of-two tackles but had a rough night following a deflection off his own foot for the first goal. With three starts in the last four matches coming in the UCL and two clean sheets recorded in that time, Estupinan appears to have the starting job for the vital second leg next Tuesday against Liverpool. In the interim, Alfonso Pedraza could get a chance to start in Saturday's trip to Deportivo Alaves.

ROTOWIRE
Sporadic playing time
Estupinan has seen sporadic playing time over the past month with Villarreal.
Impact
Estupinan has been playing basically every other match, but has gone the full 90 minutes in his past three starts. The fullback is a decent source of crosses with 66 in La Liga, the third most on the team.

Provides 11 crosses in loss
Estupinan created one chance from 11 crosses (two accurate) during Saturday's 1-0 loss to Osasuna.
Impact
Estupinan has been busy recently with one assist from 19 crosses in his last two starts, but he couldn't help his side to a goal in Saturday's tight loss. With his activity rate still high, he could be a useful pickup even in the next match against a defensively solid Celta Vigo.

Impact
Estupinan assisted Yeremi Pino for the opening goal of the match with a perfect cross in the 14th minute and then put on some impressive numbers on both sides of the pitch. Between him, Alfonso Pedraza, Alberto Moreno and Manu Trigueros, Villarreal's manager can deploy several combinations on the left flank, but Estupinan definitely boosted his case to be used on important matchups. Up next for him is Saturday's visit to Osasuna.

Sends in four crosses in draw
Estupinan created one chance, sent in four crosses (one accurate), suffered one foul and helped his side to keep a clean sheet during Sunday's scoreless draw against Mallorca.
Impact
Estupinan made his second start of the season and once again found room to support the offense, racking up a team-high four crosses. Alfonso Pedraza looks to be Villarreal's first choice at left back for now, but he's far from being locked up as a starter, so it remains to be seen who will be in the lineup for Wednesday's home match against Elche.
