Egypt's undisputed talisman Salah is set to captain Egypt at what may be his final World Cup, operating as the team's primary attacking threat on the right flank with first-call penalty and set-piece duties.
Impact Salah heads into the World Cup two goals shy of Hossam Hassan's all-time Egypt scoring record of 69 goals, carrying 116 caps and 67 international goals into a competition where he'll be desperate to add a historic result to a club career already laden with trophies. His numbers at AFCON 2025 marked the best tournament of his international career, as he finished with four goals and one assist in six appearances on his way to becoming one of the competition's standout performers. During World Cup qualifying he led all African scorers with nine goals across 10 matches, also adding three assists. Following his departure from Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, Salah will look to prove he's still among the World's most reliable offensive assets.
