Out with illness Pineda will miss Saturday's clash against the Dynamo while in the health and safety protocols, according to Chicago's injury report.

Impact Wyatt's Omsberg's foot surgery has opened the door for another center back to take over as starter for the rest of the season, but Carlos Teran (knee) is questionable for Saturday and Pineda will be unavailable as well. Jonathan Bornstein or Andre Reynolds II could be next in line if Teran isn't able to start against Houston.

Removed from injury report Pineda (lower leg) was absent from the Chicago injury report ahead of Saturday's clash with D.C. United.

Impact Pineda came off at halftime against NYCFC with what was a more serious injury than originally thought. The defender was ruled out a week later against Toronto but has now been fully removed from the injury report. The hope for Chicago is that he is able to make a full return, Pineda's versatility in central defense and midfield has proved incredibly valuable to a defensively strong Chicago side. Pineda will hope to make an appearance off the bench to test his fitness, though the absence of Miguel Navarro (illness) could push him straight back into the starting XI.

Impact Pineda kept eight clean sheets and scored a goal in 29 MLS appearances (28 starts) this season, primarily from central defense but occasionally in defensive midfield.

Impact Pineda dropped down into a 5-man backline for the draw Saturday. In turn this impacted his performance slightly. However, he did highlight a rather underwhelming performance with a great header off of a set-piece to put Chicago up once again. As long as Chicago plays a wide five in the back though, it will be hard for Pineda to show any true value.
