Remains in protocol Hines-Ike (head) will not be an option for Saturday's match against New York City F.C.

Impact Hines-Ike has been in concussion protocol since last match against Vancouver and is set to miss his second match in a row. Subs in, scores own goal in loss Hines-Ike made two tackles (both won) and five clearances but scored an own goal during Saturday's 4-0 loss against New England.
Impact Hines-Ike subbed in for injured Steven Birnbaum (head) in the 16th minute and had some meaningful numbers despite being part of a defensive line that was completely outperformed by the opposition. However, the center-back was very unfortunate in the 73rd minute, when he ended up sending the ball into his own net when trying to cut Gustavo Bou's pass from the right flank into the box. Hines-Ike has struggled to find regular playing time as of late and will now have a full month of training to try impressing his coaching staff.

Impact Hines-Ike made his first league appearance since last August on Saturday after recovering from foot surgery. He was a starter in central defense for D.C. before his injury last season, and he'll hope to challenge Derrick Williams, Donovan Pines, Victor Palsson and Steve Birnbaum (hip) for a spot in the XI once he's back at full fitness.

Impact Hines-Ike made his season debut in the Open Cup Tuesday after recovering from foot surgery he underwent last August. He has started 32 of his 33 appearances in MLS since joining D.C. in 2021, and he'll want to break back into the XI in the back-three once he returns to full fitness.

Impact Hines-Ike has yet to make his season debut as he continues to recover from foot surgery. He did begin training, but will need time to return to match fitness. He could return Mid-May, but is expected to make appearances off the bench before he can be an option to start. The defender started in all 20 games he appeared in 2020, recording 79 clearances and 26 tackles (17 won).

Injury could be serious Hines-Ike will undergo X-rays on his foot Thursday after suffering an injury in Wednesday's defeat against Charlotte FC, according to Steven Goff of The Washington Post,
Impact Goff is reporting that the early signs on Thursday suggest Hines-Ike could miss the rest of the season with this injury. Nothing has been confirmed as of yet but he was on crutches after the Charlotte game and is still undergoing X-rays on his foot. Even if the injury isn't quite that serious, it is almost certain that Hines-Ike will miss at least Saturday's clash against the Red Bulls. Donovan Pines or Andy Najar could fill in for him in central defense alongside Steve Birnbaum.

Leaves early in loss Hines-Ike was replaced by Tony Alfaro after 54 minutes of Wednesday's 3-0 loss to Charlotte
Impact Hines-Ike subbed off before two more goals were conceded to seal the contest. If he proves to be injured, Alfaro could return to the lineup for the next match against New York Red Bulls, which are tied for the fifth-most goals scored in the league.

Suspended against Fire Hines-Ike will be suspended versus Chicago on June 18 after picking up his fifth yellow card.
Impact Hines-Ike has started all 13 matches this season, in which he registered 49 clearances, 20 tackles and eight crosses (one accurate), but will now be forced to sit out for the first time this year. Once his suspension is served, the central defender should be a lock to reclaim his place in the starting XI where he can offer decent mid-range fantasy value.

Impact Hines-Ike defended well against Houston to keep his third clean sheet of the season on Saturday, and his first since early March. He has played every single minute so far in D.C.'s 2022 MLS campaign, and that should continue next weekend against Inter Miami, which have scored just nine goals in 10 matches this season.
