Joins Sounders Rusnak has signed a two-year designated player contract with Seattle with the option to extend for an additional year, the club announced Thursday.

Impact Rusnak tallied 42 goals and 29 assists in 146 appearances in all competitions during his five years with Real Salt Lake, but the 27-year-old now makes the move north to perennial Western Conference contenders Seattle. Where Rusnak was the star in Salt Lake (he scored at least 10 goals in three of his five seasons there and added seven assists in 2021), he will just be another talented attacker alongside Nicolas Lodeiro, Cristian Roldan and Raul Ruidiaz with the Sounders, but he still has the talent to potentially break into the starting XI at his new club.

Contract negotiations ongoing Rusnak's contract has run out with Real Salt Lake, and he will become a free agent on Jan. 1 if no new deal is agreed upon.

Impact Rusnak was RSL's second-highest scorer this season with 11 goals and seven assists. The 27-year-old is in discussions with the club about a potential new contract, but if nothing materializes then he will enter free agency in 2022.

Impact Rusnak has missed his side's dramatic playoff wins against Seattle and Kansas City with COVID-19, but he is expected to be able to return for the next round on Saturday.
