Sonny Milano - Puts up assist Milano registered an assist in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flames.
Impact Milano set up Matthew Phillips' first NHL tally in the second period. Milano has played in a third-line role to begin 2023-24, posting one shot on goal and an even plus-minus rating to go with his helper. The 27-year-old winger is not known for physical play -- his career high for hits is 39, set last year when he had 33 points in 64 outings with the Capitals.

John Carlson - Garners assist in win Carlson recorded an assist, four blocked shots and two shots on goal in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flames.
Impact Carlson helped out on Connor McMichael's tying goal at 9:54 of the second period. Through two contests, Carlson has five shots on net, five blocked shots, two hits and a minus-1 rating. The 33-year-old blueliner remains the Capitals' top defenseman and should continue to work on the first power-play unit, giving him plenty of opportunities to contribute on offense.

Connor McMichael - Nets tying goal McMichael scored a goal in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flames.
Impact McMichael tied the game at 2-2 just before the halfway mark of the second period. He's held down a middle-six role in both games this season, though he was limited to just one blocked shot in the season opener versus Pittsburgh. McMichael was selected in the first round in 2019, and he's looking to hold down an everyday job with the Capitals after appearing in just six contests a year ago.

Impact Phillips' first game against his former team couldn't have gone much better, as he earned his first two NHL points in the contest. He got the Capitals on the board with a tally at 6:50 of the second period, then set up Connor McMichael just over three minutes later for the tying goal. Phillips appeared in just three NHL games with the Flames after being selected in the sixth round of the 2016 NHL Entry Draft. The Capitals have given him a third-line role to begin this season, though fantasy managers may want to see if he can find consistency before considering him as a depth forward.

Darcy Kuemper - Wins in shootout Kuemper stopped 38 of 40 shots in Monday's 3-2 shootout win over the Flames.
Impact Kuemper had to be sharp after the Capitals got off to a slow start. He allowed two goals in the first period but shut things down after that, allowing the Capitals to make a comeback. This was Kuemper's first start of 2023-24 after he missed Opening Night to be with his family after the birth of his first child.
