Impact Vlasic missed three games with the injury at the tail end of 2022-23. The 36-year-old defenseman could see a second-pairing role to begin this season, as the Sharks will need someone capable of eating minutes after Erik Karlsson was dealt to the Penguins. Vlasic had 18 points and 116 blocked shots in 78 outings a year ago.

Impact Rutta underwent core muscle surgery in April, but his availability for training camp wasn't in doubt. The 33-year-old blueliner had nine points in 56 outings with the Penguins last year, but he could receive power-play time with the Sharks, who have a lack of established scoring options on defense.

Impact Kunin missed the last four months of 2022-23 while recovering from a torn ACL that required surgery. With his activation, he's officially ready for training camp. Kunin should be able to be a regular in the Sharks' lineup, but it's not clear where the 25-year-old forward will slot in.

He missed the last game of the 2022-23 campaign because of his arm injury. Hoffman skated on a line with Filip Zadina during Thursday's practice.

Impact Eklund underwent shoulder surgery in March, and the expectation was always that he'd be good to go for camp. The 20-year-old, selected seventh overall in 2021, had 41 points in 54 AHL games and three points over eight contests with the Sharks last season. Now two years separated from his draft year, Eklund should be ready to contend for at least a middle-six job with the Sharks, and he should also see some power-play time.

Ryan Merkley - Signs one-year contract in KHL Merkley signed a one-year contract with Kunlun of the KHL on Friday.

Impact Merkley spent last season in the AHL, scoring a pair of goals with six assists in 28 games with the Eagles. He started the season with AHL San Jose, managing 14 assists in 30 games before he was dealt to Colorado with Matt Nieto for Jacob MacDonald and Martin Kaut. Merkley was a disappointment after he was drafted 21st overall in the 2018 draft, playing only 39 games at the NHL level in 2021-22.
