Rickard Rakell - Will miss at least three more weeks
Rakell's (hand) return timeline was updated Wednesday, and he is expected to return in 3-4 weeks.
Impact
This will end up with Rakell trending toward the latter half of the 6-8 week initial timeline announced when he underwent surgery in late October. At this point, don't expect Rakell to be back prior to the holiday break. Once healthy, he'll likely fill a top-six role with ice time in all situations.

Noel Acciari - Set to travel with team
Acciari (upper body) is expected to travel with Pittsburgh for its two-game road trip, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports.
Impact
Acciari won't be an option for Thursday's clash with Tampa, but the fact that he is traveling with the team should be a good indication he's nearing a return. While Acciari won't offer much in terms of offensive upside, he's got just three helpers in 13 games this year, but he should see plenty of minutes in a fourth-line role.

Justin Brazeau - Traveling with team
Brazeau (upper body) will join the Penguins for their two-game road trip, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports Wednesday.
Impact
Brazeau could be close to returning from his 13-game absence due to his upper-body injury, though he hasn't been officially cleared to play. Prior to getting hurt, the 27-year-old winger was registering a point per game, racking up six goals and six helpers in 12 outings. Once Brazeau gets the green light, he should link back up with Evgeni Malkin on the second line.

Joona Koppanen - Dealing with illness
Koppanen will not practice Wednesday due to an illness, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports.
Impact
Koppanen was a healthy scratch against the Flyers on Monday, so his potential absence may not impact the Penguins' lineup versus the Lightning on Thursday. Still, if the 27-year-old winger is unable to travel with the team, it could force the club to bring up another forward from the minors to give Pittsburgh a healthy extra player for its two-game road trip.

Thomas Novak - Buries power-play goal in win
Novak scored a power-play goal in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
Novak has three points over his last three games. He's been on the second line in recent contests, which could be a spot that allows him to maintain decent offense. He's more of a supporting player on this team with three goals, 10 points, 33 shots on net and a minus-3 rating over 25 appearances this season.

ROTOWIRE
Kevin Hayes - Pads lead Monday
Hayes scored a goal and added two hits in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
Hayes scored at 15:33 of the third period for the last goal in the game. The 33-year-old has received a look on the top line, recently, but that's likely to be a short-term gig if Rutger McGroarty can adjust to the NHL quickly. Hayes has two goals, four points, 17 shots on net, 12 hits and a plus-2 rating over his 10 appearances this season.

ROTOWIRE
Erik Karlsson - Two-point effort Monday
Karlsson collected two power-play assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
The 35-year-old blueliner helped break open a 1-1 tie in the second period by having a hand in tallies by Sidney Crosby and Bryan Rust. Karlsson cooled off considerably in November, and since his last multi-point performance Oct. 27, he'd managed just one goal -- his only tally of the season -- and six points in the 14 games prior to Monday's outburst.

ROTOWIRE
Evgeni Malkin - Two helpers against Philly
Malkin notched two power-play assists in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
The Penguins scored three power-play goals in total on the night, with Malkin helping to set up tallies by Bryan Rust in the second period and Thomas Novak in the third. It was Malkin's first multi-point performance since Oct. 27, as he works to put a sluggish November (three goals and seven points in 12 games) behind him. On the season, the 39-year-old has six goals and 26 points in 25 contests.

ROTOWIRE
Bryan Rust - Three points in big win
Rust scored a power-play goal and added two assists, one with the man advantage, in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
The veteran winger played a part in each of the Penguins' first three goals. It was Rust's third three-point performance of the season, and through 23 games he's delivered eight goals and 21 points, including two goals and 10 points on the power play.

ROTOWIRE
Sidney Crosby - Strikes twice in win over Philly
Crosby scored two goals, one the game-winner on the power play, in Monday's 5-1 victory over Philadelphia.
Impact
No player has done as much damage against the Flyers as Crosby, who has 59 goals and 137 points in 92 career games against the Penguins' cross-state rivals. The future Hall of Famer is still going strong at age 38, and through 25 contests this season, Crosby's delivered 18 goals and 29 points. He also has another franchise record in his sights -- Crosby's 1,716 career points are just seven back of Mario Lemieux for the most all-time in Pittsburgh history.

ROTOWIRE
Tristan Jarry - Cruises to third straight win
Jarry turned aside 28 shots in Monday's 5-1 win over the Flyers.
Impact
Philly did tie the game at 1-1 on a Tyson Foerster power-play tally early in the second period, but Jarry shut the door from there. The veteran netminder has won three straight starts since returning from a lower-body injury that cost him most of November, seizing the No. 1 job in the Pittsburgh crease back from Arturs Silovs by posting a 2.51 GAA and .912 save percentage since rejoining the roster.
