Ryan Shea - Losing playing-time battle Shea was scratched for Thursday's 2-1 overtime win over the Ducks, the 10th time in 12 games he's sat out.
Impact Shea remains in the NHL as a seventh defenseman, but he's behind Jack St. Ivany on the depth chart for a third-pairing job. In his two appearances, Shea has a minus-2 rating, two shots on goal and five blocked shots. The Penguins' defense hasn't exactly been a standout group so far, but Shea has minimal upside on offense -- he produced just one goal and no assists over 31 regular-season outings in 2023-24.

Jack St. Ivany - Receiving regular playing time St. Ivany has suited up in 10 of the Penguins' first 12 games, though he has yet to record a point.
Impact St. Ivany has a clear edge over Ryan Shea for a third-pairing job. The results haven't been particularly strong -- St. Ivany has nine shots on net, 24 hits, 12 blocked shots, nine PIM and a minus-4 rating in 2024-25. The 25-year-old defenseman is averaging 15:46 of ice time, but with virtually no scoring upside, he is unlikely to be a factor in most fantasy formats.

Cody Glass - Sets up game-winner Glass logged an assist and two hits in Thursday's 2-1 overtime win over the Ducks.
Impact This was Glass's first point in two games since he returned from an illness. The 25-year-old has done a fair job of holding down a bottom-six spot in the Penguins' lineup, though his assist Thursday came on Sidney Crosby's goal at 2:35 of overtime. Glass has four helpers, 16 shots on net, eight hits, five blocked shots and a minus-5 rating over 11 appearances while averaging 12:20 of ice time.

Impact Karlsson was able to bring a three-game pointless streak to an end with his sixth helper of the season. While the 34-year-old blueliner has been fairly productive offensively with seven points in 12 games, he has struggled on the defensive side of the puck and currently sits at minus-6 while also registering the second most giveaways (24) in the league behind only Dougie Hamilton (26).

Sidney Crosby - Secures win over Ducks Crosby scored two goals on six shots, including the overtime game-winner, in Thursday's 2-1 victory over Anaheim.
Impact Crosby has scored just once in 11 games prior to Thursday's performance. By his standards, the veteran center was probably struggling to produce, garnering seven points in his opening 10 contests. That slump appears to be behind Crosby considering he has five points in the last two games. If Crosby can continue to produce at those levels, he should be capable of putting together a third straight 90-plus point season.

Alex Nedeljkovic - Shuts down Ducks Nedeljkovic stopped 22 of 23 shots in a 2-1 victory over Anaheim on Thursday.
Impact Nedeljkovic put together his strongest performance of the season, giving up a first-period goal to Alex Killorn before closing the door on the Ducks the rest of the way. It was the 28-year-old netminder's first victory of the year, having gone 1-2-1 since returning from a preseason lower-body injury. With Tristan Jarry trying to find his game in the minors, Nedeljkovic should continue to see the bulk of the workload, including Saturday's matchup with Montreal.

Blake Lizotte - Off injured reserve Lizotte (concussion) was removed from injured reserve Thursday, per Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports.
Impact Lizotte was considered a game-time decision for Thursday's game against Anaheim, but this seems to suggest that he's ready to play. The 26-year-old is projected to serve on the third line alongside Kevin Hayes and Anthony Beauvillier. He hasn't played yet in 2024-25, but Lizotte recorded seven goals and 15 points across 62 regular-season outings with the Kings in 2023-24.

Impact Nedeljkovic has yet to pick up a win in three starts, going 0-2-1 with a 3.93 GAA and an .874 save percentage. He was good last season, when he took over from Tristan Jarry near the end of the season, as he managed an 18-7-7 record in 38 regular-season appearances. The Ducks are at the bottom of NHL scoring with 21 goals this season.

Vasily Ponomarev - Headed for minors Ponomarev (upper body) was taken off the injured non-roster list and reassigned to AHL Wilkes-Barre/Scranton on Thursday.
Impact Ponomarev was a long shot to make Pittsburgh's Opening Night roster but a preseason injury all but guaranteed he would start the year in the minors. Still, the 22-year-old Russian has shown some offensive upside in the AHL and should be on the shortlist of potential call-ups throughout 2024-25.
