First off Saturday Grubauer was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Piper Shaw of Kraken Hockey Network reports, indicating he will guard the road goal against St. Louis on Saturday.

Impact Grubauer has appeared in only two games this season while allowing three goals on 29 shots en route to a record of 0-0-1. However, he could see a significant increase in playing time if Joey Daccord (upper body) misses extended action. With Grubauer set to face the Blues, Matt Murray could get the second half of Seattle's road back-to-back against Dallas on Sunday.

Needed in relief Monday Grubauer stopped all six shots he faced after replacing Joey Daccord to begin the third period of Monday's 5-2 loss to the Flyers.

Impact It was only the second appearance of the season for the veteran goalie, as Daccord has dominated the crease for the Kraken in the early going. In four-plus periods of work so far, Grubauer has allowed three goals on 29 shots, recording an OTL in his only start.

Impact Joey Daccord started Seattle's first three games of the season, but it appears as though he'll get the night off Thursday after the Kraken's last two matchups went to overtime. In net against Calgary Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at Tuesday's morning skate, according to Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network, indicating that he will start in Calgary.

Impact Grubauer will start the season as Seattle's No. 2 netminder, but he has competition for that role in the form of Matt Murray, who signed a one-year, $1 million contract with the club July 1. Grubauer underwhelmed in 2024-25, but general manager Jason Botterill said in June that the team believes Grubauer can have a bounce-back season.

In the shootout, he played a starring role, stopping five of seven attempts to help the Kraken get the win. Grubauer is up to 8-17-1 with a 3.49 GAA and an .875 save percentage over 26 outings. He's redeemed himself a bit since a stint at AHL Coachella Valley, going 3-2-0 with 11 goals allowed on 129 shots (.915 save percentage) over his last five outings. Still, don't be surprised to see Joey Daccord get the nod for the Kraken's season finale at home versus the Kings on Tuesday.
