Philipp Grubauer - Page 5 - NHL News & Rumors

Tending twine in Calgary Grubauer will be between the road pipes against the Flames on Monday, per Mike Benton of the Kraken Audio Network.

Impact Grubauer is riding a three-game winning streak heading into Monday's divisional matchup, a span during which he's posted a phenomenal .970 save percentage and a 1.00 GAA. The Flames have generated 2.66 goals per game this campaign, which ranks 27th in the league. Grubauer is 3-5-1 with a 2.82 GAA and a .917 save percentage across 10 career regular-season appearances against Calgary.

Cruises to win Grubauer stopped 24 of 25 shots in Thursday's 4-1 win over the Predators.

Impact Grubauer picked up his third straight win, and he's allowed exactly one goal in each of them. The Kraken gave him an early 3-0 lead to protect, and Grubauer was up to the task. He's now 7-3-1 with a 2.32 GAA and a .920 save percentage over 13 appearances this season, which are his best numbers in a Kraken uniform. He's still in the backup role behind Joey Daccord, but Grubauer has earned a near-even split of the playing time lately. Daccord figures to start Friday in Vancouver, and the two goalies will likely split a back-to-back early next week with a road game in Calgary on Monday followed by a home matchup versus the Bruins on Tuesday.

Facing Nashville Grubauer will start in goal at home versus the Predators on Thursday, Brooks Bratten of the Predators' official site reports.

Impact Grubauer will start for the third time in five games, though this is the start of the third of four consecutive back-to-back sets for the Kraken. He's allowed just two goals on 74 shots over his last two games, both wins. The Predators have won five of their last six games with 20 goals scored in that span.

Strong in win over Flyers Grubauer stopped 31 of 32 shots in Sunday's 4-1 win over the Flyers.

Impact Grubauer stood tall to pick up his second straight win. The 34-year-old netminder has carved out a fairly even share of playing time with Joey Daccord in the Kraken crease lately, and if Grubauer can maintain that split, he'll have some appeal in fantasy. He's put together a decent season with a 6-3-1 record, a 2.44 GAA and a .917 save percentage in 12 appearances so far. Look for Daccord to get the starting nod Monday versus the Canucks, and the goalies are likely to split another back-to-back set later in the week as well.

Grubauer stops 31 shots and Tolvanen scores twice as Kraken beat Flyers 4-1

In net versus Philly Grubauer will patrol the home blue paint against the Flyers on Sunday, according to Joe Pohoryles of Emerald City Spectrum.

Impact Grubauer snapped his three-game losing streak in his last start, turning in a stellar 40-save effort during a 3-1 win over the Ducks on Monday. That was his first victory since Nov. 22, so it's difficult to trust the 34-year-old netminder given that the Kraken rank 31st in the league with 2.54 goals per game. As for the Flyers, they are coming off back-to-back wins against the Canucks and Blackhawks, netting a combined eight goals in those victories.

Makes 40 saves Monday Grubauer stopped 40 of 41 shots in Monday's 3-1 win over the Ducks.

Impact Grubauer earned his first win in exactly a month, as his previous victory came Nov. 22 against the Penguins. This was his best outing in quite some time, and the 40 saves were a season-high mark by a wide margin. Grubauer hasn't won back-to-back games since winning four straight starts in November, though, so it's hard to trust him for sustained production. Wins aside, his individual numbers have looked decent -- he's had a save percentage above .900 in three of his last four contests.

First goalie off Monday Grubauer was the first goalie to exit the ice ahead of Monday's road clash with the Ducks, Derek Lee of The Hockey News reports, indicating he'll be in goal.

Impact Grubuer is mired in a three-game losing streak during which he posted a 3.07 GAA and .906 save percentage. With the 34-year-old netminder getting the nod Monday, fantasy managers can expect Joey Daccord to take the second game of the back-to-back on the road versus the Kings on Tuesday.

Fades in third period Grubauer stopped 33 of 37 shots in Tuesday's 5-3 loss to the Avalanche. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.

Impact Grubauer was in for a tough matchup, but the Kraken gave him a fighting chance with a 3-2 lead after two periods. Nathan MacKinnon took over in the third, and that sent Grubauer to his third straight loss since the Kraken started alternating goalie starts between Grubauer and Joey Daccord. On the year, Grubauer is 4-3-1 with a 2.78 GAA and an .899 save percentage over 10 outings. If the alternating pattern continues, Daccord would start Thursday in Calgary, followed by Grubauer getting the nod Saturday in San Jose.

Starting Tuesday Grubauer will protect the home goal versus the Avalanche on Tuesday, Joe Pohoryles of Emerald City Spectrum reports.

Impact The Kraken have started to alternate goalies, giving Grubauer his third start in six games in this contest. It's a tough assignment for him against one of his former teams -- the Avalanche lead the league with 4.00 goals per game this season.

Can't get back in win column Grubauer allowed three goals on 29 shots in Friday's 5-3 loss to the Mammoth. The last two goals were empty-netters.

Impact This was a tighter game than the final score suggests, but Grubauer allowed a key goal to Dylan Guenther on a Utah power play in the third period. Grubauer has allowed five goals on 56 shots over his last two outings, both regulation losses. He's at a 4-2-1 record with a 2.61 GAA and a .900 save percentage over nine contests this season. He's unlikely to steal the starting job from Joey Daccord, but Grubauer has played well enough in general to see a slight uptick in usage amid Daccord's recent struggles. The Kraken are in action at home versus the Sabres in a favorable matchup for whichever goalie gets the nod.

Getting start versus Mammoth Grubauer will guard the road goal Friday versus the Mammoth, per Circling Seattle Sports.

Impact Grubauer will make his second start in the last three games. While he took a loss versus the Wild on Monday, he stopped 25 of 27 shots. Grubauer is carving out a larger role amid Joey Daccord's recent struggles, and it's possible the two goalies share the crease for a while going forward.

DECEMBER 13, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Falls short versus Wild Grubauer allowed two goals on 27 shots in Monday's 4-1 loss to the Wild. The last two goals were empty-netters.

Impact Grubauer did his best to keep the game close, but the Kraken didn't give him enough support. This was his first regulation loss of the season, dropping the 34-year-old to a 4-1-1 record through eight appearances. He's added a steady 2.54 GAA and .900 save percentage in the backup role behind Joey Daccord. With Daccord struggling lately, Grubauer may be called upon more frequently, though the Kraken have no back-to-backs coming up in the immediate future. They host the Kings on Wednesday in their next game.

Set to face Minnesota Grubauer will be between the home pipes Monday versus the Wild, according to Joe Pohoryles of Emerald City Spectrum.

Impact Prior to making a relief appearance Thursday in Edmonton, Grubauer had won his last four outings, turning aside a combined 88 of 96 shots (.917 save percentage) in victories over Pittsburgh, San Jose, Winnipeg and St. Louis. The 34-year-old has received limited work in 2025-26, but he has yet to lose in regulation across seven appearances (4-0-1). The Wild have faltered of late, losing back-to-back games in Calgary and Vancouver, and they've scored just eight goals across their last five contests.

DECEMBER 9, 2025 • ROTOWIRE

Sloppy in relief appearance Grubauer stopped 14 of 18 shots in relief of Joey Daccord in Thursday's 9-4 loss to the Oilers.

Impact Grubauer wasn't on the hook for the loss, but this was still a poor showing for him -- arguably his worst effort of the year. The 34-year-old netminder remains at 4-0-1 through seven appearances while adding a 2.63 GAA and an .895 save percentage. Grubauer is probably due a start soon, as he's gone almost two weeks without one, though it's not yet clear if that will come Saturday versus the Red Wings.

Makes 30 saves in OT win Grubauer stopped 30 of 32 shots in Saturday's 3-2 overtime win over the Penguins.

Impact Grubauer was beaten once in even strength and once on the power play by Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin, respectively, but he looked composed the rest of the way and put up a solid line en route to an OT win. The 30 saves were a season-high mark for Grubauer, who seems to be entrenched as the backup behind Joey Daccord. As long as Grubauer remains in this role, his upside will be close to minimal and strictly matchup-based.

Slated to start Saturday Grubauer was the first goaltender off the ice at morning practice, Piper Shaw of Kraken Hockey Network reports, indicating he will defend the road goal in Pittsburgh on Saturday.

Impact Grubauer has won three straight games and has provided the Kraken with excellent back up goaltending. He is 3-0-1 with a 2.20 GAA and a .903 save percentage across five appearances this season. He will face a tired Penguins team that dropped a 5-0 decision at home Friday to Minnesota.
