Grabs first win in five starts Daws stopped 27 of 28 shots in the Devil's 3-1 win over the Kraken on Monday.
Impact It was Daws' first start since Jan. 25 and his first win in his last five starts. His .964 save percentage is a bright spot after posting an .880 save percentage or worse in the three games before Monday. With just nine games played this season, his starts are infrequent, and his play has been inconsistent.

Set to face Seattle Daws will patrol the home crease Monday against Seattle, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Vitek Vanecek won't be available for Monday's contest because of a lower-body injury and an illness, so the Devils will need to recall a goalie from AHL Utica to serve as the backup. Daws has allowed 14 goals on 108 shots en route to four straight losses, which has dropped his record to 3-5-0 through eight NHL appearances this campaign. The Kraken sit 27th in the league this season with 2.76 goals per game.

Pulled in loss to Carolina Daws stopped nine of 12 shots before being pulled in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Carolina on Thursday.
Impact Daws was replaced by Vitek Vanecek early in the second period. It's been a rough stretch for Daws, who has now lost his last four appearances while allowing 14 goals on 108 shots (.870 save percentage). That drags his 2023-24 totals down to 3-5-0 with a 3.43 GAA and an .895 save percentage across eight contests. Vanecek's struggles have created an opening for the Devils' starting gig, but Daws hasn't proven that he's a good option either.

Set to start Thursday Daws is expected to start on the road against Carolina on Thursday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws has a 3-4-0 record, 3.19 GAA and .903 save percentage in seven contests this season. He's lost his last three starts while stopping 85 of 96 shots (.885 save percentage). Carolina will be a tough adversary for the struggling goaltender -- the Hurricanes rank 10th offensively this year with 3.39 goals per game.

Third straight loss Daws made 30 saves in a 6-2 loss to Dallas on Saturday.
Impact The speed of the Stars put the Devils D on their heels, and Daws could only hold the proverbial fort for so long. He has lost three consecutive games this week with 11 goals allowed. Daws time in the net may not last long if the Devils go out and trade for a goalie, as rumors continue to suggest. Don't over-invest in him yet.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to face Stars Daws is expected to start in Saturday's home game against Dallas, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Daws has lost his last two contests, but he did save 55 of 60 shots (.917 save percentage) during that stretch. Through six appearances this season, he has a 3-3-0 record, 2.71 GAA and .917 save percentage. Dallas ranks third offensively this year with 3.61 goals per game, so this will be a difficult matchup for Daws.

Stumbles against Habs Daws made 22 saves in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact The Devils were getting shut out until they found two power-play goals early in the third period, but Daws couldn't get the game to overtime. He had trouble squeezing a Jordan Harris point shot with less than five minutes left in regulation, and Cole Caufield banged home the rebound. Daws has started three straight games and six of nine since being called up, going 3-3-0 with a 2.71 GAA and .917 save percentage, and the 23-year-old appears to be coach Lindy Ruff's preferred option in the crease right now over a struggling Vitek Vanecek (3.08 GAA and .885 save percentage since the beginning of December.)

Gets starting nod Daws will patrol the home crease versus the Canadiens on Wednesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws was sharp in his last start Monday against the Bruins, stopping 33 of 35 shots, but he still came away with a loss due to a complete lack of goal support from his teammates. He'll try to get back in the win column in a favorable home matchup with a Montreal team that's averaging only 2.80 goals per game on the road this year, 26th in the NHL.
JANUARY 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hung out to dry in Boston Daws turned aside 33 of 35 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Bruins.
Impact The 23-year-old netminder did his best to keep his team in the game, but Jeremy Swayman shut down every scoring opportunity the Devils mustered. Daws appears to be on the verge of overtaking Vitek Vanecek for the top job in the New Jersey crease. Since his promotion from AHL Utica after Christmas, Daws has gone 3-2-0 in five starts with a 2.63 GAA and .922 save percentage, while Vanecek has a 3.08 GAA and .885 save percentage since the beginning of December.

Starting in Boston Daws will defend the road goal Monday against Boston, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws will get a second straight start after stopping 36 shots in Saturday's 4-1 win over Florida. He has posted a 3-1-0 record this season with a 2.77 GAA and a .916 save percentage over four outings.
JANUARY 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Sharp in third win Daws made 36 saves in Saturday's 4-1 win over the Panthers.
Impact A Sam Reinhart power-play tally in the second period spoiled his shutout bid, but otherwise Daws was in full control. The 23-year-old netminder has won three of four starts since being called up from AHL Utica, allowing 11 goals on 131 shots (.916 save percentage), and while he's working in a timeshare with Vitek Vanecek at the moment, Vanecek's 3.08 GAA and .885 save percentage since the beginning of December have left the door open for Daws to potentially seize the top job in the Devils' crease.

Daws stops 36 shots, Devils top Panthers 4-1 to end Florida's 9-game winning streak

Nico Daws stopped 36 shots, Jesper Bratt scored for the second straight game and the New Jersey Devils snapped Florida’s nine-game winning streak by topping the Panthers 4-1
JANUARY 14, 2024 • Associated Press
Expected to start Saturday Daws is between the pipes at morning practice, indicating he will get the start in Florida on Saturday, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Daws picked up his first loss of the season after two straight wins Jan. 6, stopping 36 of 41 shots as the Canucks upended the Devils 6-4. Daws has turned aside 84 of 94 shots this season, with both of his wins coming on the road. Daws will have a tough matchup as the Panthers are red-hot, winning nine games in a row.
JANUARY 13, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stands on head in loss Daws made 36 saves Saturday in a 6-4 loss to the Devils. He allowed five goals.
Impact He stood on his head in the first period when Vancouver outshot New Jersey 17-5. His teammates were on their heels and it was Daws who saved them that frame. But ultimately, he allowed the same number of goals that he'd allowed his first two starts and that was enough for the Orcas to get a strangle hold on the game. Daws has played three games in the last nine games, going 2-1-0, and may continue to see significant starts with Vitek Vanecek scuffling. He's a worthy waiver pick-up.
JANUARY 7, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Set to start Saturday Daws will protect the home goal versus the Canucks on Saturday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws has apparently carved out a 50-50 split with Vitek Vanecek between the pipes for the Devils. The momentum is in Daws' favor -- he has won both of his starts this season, allowing five goals on 53 shots. The Canucks will be his biggest test yet, as they come in having scored 23 goals over their last six games.
JANUARY 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Nabs second straight win Daws stopped 23 shots in Wednesday's 6-3 win over the Capitals.
Impact The 23-year-old netminder let an early lead slip away as Washington tied it up 3-3 late in the second period, but Daws held firm in the third as New Jersey pulled away. He's won both his starts since being called up last week, allowing five goals on 53 shots, and considering that Vitek Vanecek stumbled to a 3.11 GAA and .888 save percentage through eight appearances in December, the door is open for Daws to at least work his way into a timeshare in the Devils crease if he keeps getting results.
JANUARY 4, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Poised to start against Caps Daws is slated to get the starting nod on the road versus Washington on Wednesday, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact Daws will be making just his second NHL start of the season after stopping 25 of 27 shots in a win over the Senators on Friday. The netminder has seen limited action in the minors this year as well, going 1-2-0 with a .929 save percentage and 2.39 GAA in three games with the Comets. Daws figures to be on a short leash as the No. 2 option behind Vitek Vanecek as both Keith Kinkaid and Akira Schmid would no doubt like to take Daws' spot.
JANUARY 3, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Impressive in season debut Daws turned aside 25 of 27 shots in a 6-2 victory over Ottawa on Friday.
Impact Daws was making his NHL season debut after posting a 2.39 GAA and a .929 save percentage through three contests with AHL Utica this season. He's getting this opportunity because Akira Schmid has struggled to the point where he was reassigned to Utica on Thursday. Vitek Vanecek remains with New Jersey, but he's done poorly as well, posting a 3.26 GAA and an .885 save percentage in 22 outings this year. If Daws can replicate his success against the Senators with any kind of consistency, then there might be an opening for him to snatch a meaningful role with the Devils.
DECEMBER 30, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tending twine Friday Daws will get the starting nod in Ottawa on Friday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws is slated to make his first NHL appearance since suiting up for 25 games during the 2021-22 campaign. He's 10-11-1 with a 3.11 GAA and an .893 save percentage in his NHL career. In three AHL appearances this season, Daws stopped 91 of 98 shots he faced.
DECEMBER 29, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Up from minors Daws was summoned from AHL Utica on Wednesday.
Impact Daws' recall might indicate that Vitek Vanecek or Akira Schmid is questionable for Wednesday's game, but at the moment both goaltenders are listed as being healthy. Daws has a 2.39 GAA and a .929 save percentage in three AHL contests this year.
DECEMBER 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Returns to AHL Daws was reassigned to AHL Utica on Wednesday, per James Nichols of New Jersey Hockey Now.
Impact Daws was recalled by New Jersey on Sunday because Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed) was unavailable, but Vanecek returned to the lineup Tuesday versus Philadelphia. Daws has a 2.04 GAA and a .937 save percentage in two contests with Utica this season. He logged 25 contests with the Devils in 2021-22 but hasn't played in the NHL since.
DECEMBER 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Joins big club Daws was promoted from AHL Utica on Sunday.
Impact With Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed) not available Sunday, Daws was bumped up to the top level to back up Akira Schmid. Daws has not seen any NHL action since the 2021-22 campaign. He's stopped 59 of 63 shots in two AHL games this season.
