INJURIES

Starting again Saturday Daws will guard the home net Saturday against the Canadiens, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact It'll be the seventh straight appearance for Daws with Vitek Vanecek (lower body) still unavailable. The 23-year-old Daws has lost back-to-back outings, allowing 11 goals on 44 shots in that span. He'll look to right the ship Saturday against a Montreal team averaging 2.74 goals per game.
FEBRUARY 24, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Burned by Blueshirts Daws made 13 saves in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact The poor numbers for Daws can be laid squarely at the feet of a Devils' defense that committed multiple turnovers and mental errors in its own zone, but that doesn't change the fact that the 23-year-old has given up 11 goals on only 44 shots over the last two games. The pressure is mounting on New Jersey to make a splash at the trade deadline and acquire a frontline goalie, but in the short term Daws may need a breather after starting six straight games and going 3-3-0 with a 3.19 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Expected to start Thursday Daws is expected to start at home against the Rangers on Thursday, per Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Daws will attempt to rebound after allowing six goals on 26 shots in a loss to Washington on Tuesday. He has a 6-7-0 record, 3.18 GAA and .903 save percentage in 13 contests this season. The Rangers, who are in a three-way tie for 11th offensively this year, might be a difficult adversary for Daws.
FEBRUARY 22, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Surrenders six goals Daws stopped 20 of 26 shots in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Capitals.
Impact It was a rough start for Daws as he allowed a goal 39 seconds into the game and then gave up four consecutive goals in the next two frames. Alex Ovechkin capped off the win on the power play with only 33 seconds remaining. In the four games prior to this start, Daws allowed two or fewer goals in three of those games, displaying solid promise. Daws has shown flashes of potential lately, but with this recent blip - putting up a .769 save percentage - consistency is still a concern.
FEBRUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Starting versus Capitals Daws will protect the road goal versus the Capitals on Tuesday, Catherine Bogart of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws has been sharp lately, winning three of his last four games while allowing a total of eight goals in that span. He stopped 45 of 48 shots in a 6-3 win over the Flyers in Saturday's Stadium Series game. Daws figures to be the Devils' top goalie until Vitek Vanecek (lower body) is activated from injured reserve.

Sharp in Stadium Series win Daws stopped 44 of 47 shots in Saturday's 6-3 victory over the Flyers.
Impact Daws was excellent in New Jersey's win at MetLife Stadium, making a season-high 44 saves, including 24 in the second period, en route to his third win in four starts -- he's posted a .941 save percentage in that span while filling in for Vitek Vanecek (lower body). The 23-year-old Daws is now 6-6-0 with a .912 save percentage and 2.93 GAA this season. He'd likely be back in net Wednesday on the road in Washington if Vanecek remains unavailable.

Tough loss to LA Daws stopped 27 shots in Thursday's 2-1 loss to the Kings.
Impact After a scoreless first period the two teams traded goals in the second, before a Quentin Byfield power-play tally in the third proved to be the difference. Daws has started three straight games while Vitek Vanecek (lower body) has been sidelined, and the 23-year-old netminder has dazzled by allowing only five goals on 89 shots (.944 save percentage). Vanecek could return next week, but the duo might move into a timeshare given Daws' current form.

Facing Kings Daws will guard the home goal versus LA on Thursday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws has been excellent of late, picking up back-to-back wins over the Kraken and the Predators while posting an impressive 1.50 GAA and .950 save percentage. The 23-year-old netminder will try to secure a third straight victory in a home matchup with a Kings team that's played well on the road this season, going 15-7-4.
FEBRUARY 15, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Wins on consecutive days Daws stopped 30 of 32 shots in Tuesday's 4-2 win over the Predators.
Impact Daws was between the pipes for the second day in a row, and he once again earned the win. He's stopped 57 of 60 shots over those two contests against the Kraken and the Predators, helping the Devils to not miss Vitek Vanecek (lower body/illness) too much. Daws improved to 5-5-0 with a 3.02 GAA and a .906 save percentage through 10 appearances this season. The Devils' next game is at home against the Kings on Thursday.
FEBRUARY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Starting against Tuesday Daws will guard the road goal versus the Predators on Tuesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws was sharp in stopping 27 of 28 shots against the Kraken on Monday, and he'll go again a day later. Vitek Vanecek (illness/lower body) remains out of action, so Daws will be backed up by Akira Schmid. Daws has gone 4-5-0 with a 3.14 GAA and a .903 save percentage over nine outings this season.
FEBRUARY 14, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Grabs first win in five starts Daws stopped 27 of 28 shots in the Devil's 3-1 win over the Kraken on Monday.
Impact It was Daws' first start since Jan. 25 and his first win in his last five starts. His .964 save percentage is a bright spot after posting an .880 save percentage or worse in the three games before Monday. With just nine games played this season, his starts are infrequent, and his play has been inconsistent.

Set to face Seattle Daws will patrol the home crease Monday against Seattle, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Vitek Vanecek won't be available for Monday's contest because of a lower-body injury and an illness, so the Devils will need to recall a goalie from AHL Utica to serve as the backup. Daws has allowed 14 goals on 108 shots en route to four straight losses, which has dropped his record to 3-5-0 through eight NHL appearances this campaign. The Kraken sit 27th in the league this season with 2.76 goals per game.
FEBRUARY 12, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Pulled in loss to Carolina Daws stopped nine of 12 shots before being pulled in Thursday's 3-2 loss to Carolina on Thursday.
Impact Daws was replaced by Vitek Vanecek early in the second period. It's been a rough stretch for Daws, who has now lost his last four appearances while allowing 14 goals on 108 shots (.870 save percentage). That drags his 2023-24 totals down to 3-5-0 with a 3.43 GAA and an .895 save percentage across eight contests. Vanecek's struggles have created an opening for the Devils' starting gig, but Daws hasn't proven that he's a good option either.

Set to start Thursday Daws is expected to start on the road against Carolina on Thursday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws has a 3-4-0 record, 3.19 GAA and .903 save percentage in seven contests this season. He's lost his last three starts while stopping 85 of 96 shots (.885 save percentage). Carolina will be a tough adversary for the struggling goaltender -- the Hurricanes rank 10th offensively this year with 3.39 goals per game.

Third straight loss Daws made 30 saves in a 6-2 loss to Dallas on Saturday.
Impact The speed of the Stars put the Devils D on their heels, and Daws could only hold the proverbial fort for so long. He has lost three consecutive games this week with 11 goals allowed. Daws time in the net may not last long if the Devils go out and trade for a goalie, as rumors continue to suggest. Don't over-invest in him yet.
JANUARY 21, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to face Stars Daws is expected to start in Saturday's home game against Dallas, according to Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site.
Impact Daws has lost his last two contests, but he did save 55 of 60 shots (.917 save percentage) during that stretch. Through six appearances this season, he has a 3-3-0 record, 2.71 GAA and .917 save percentage. Dallas ranks third offensively this year with 3.61 goals per game, so this will be a difficult matchup for Daws.
JANUARY 20, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Stumbles against Habs Daws made 22 saves in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to the Canadiens.
Impact The Devils were getting shut out until they found two power-play goals early in the third period, but Daws couldn't get the game to overtime. He had trouble squeezing a Jordan Harris point shot with less than five minutes left in regulation, and Cole Caufield banged home the rebound. Daws has started three straight games and six of nine since being called up, going 3-3-0 with a 2.71 GAA and .917 save percentage, and the 23-year-old appears to be coach Lindy Ruff's preferred option in the crease right now over a struggling Vitek Vanecek (3.08 GAA and .885 save percentage since the beginning of December.)
JANUARY 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Gets starting nod Daws will patrol the home crease versus the Canadiens on Wednesday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact Daws was sharp in his last start Monday against the Bruins, stopping 33 of 35 shots, but he still came away with a loss due to a complete lack of goal support from his teammates. He'll try to get back in the win column in a favorable home matchup with a Montreal team that's averaging only 2.80 goals per game on the road this year, 26th in the NHL.
JANUARY 17, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Hung out to dry in Boston Daws turned aside 33 of 35 shots in Monday's 3-0 loss to the Bruins.
Impact The 23-year-old netminder did his best to keep his team in the game, but Jeremy Swayman shut down every scoring opportunity the Devils mustered. Daws appears to be on the verge of overtaking Vitek Vanecek for the top job in the New Jersey crease. Since his promotion from AHL Utica after Christmas, Daws has gone 3-2-0 in five starts with a 2.63 GAA and .922 save percentage, while Vanecek has a 3.08 GAA and .885 save percentage since the beginning of December.
