INJURIES

Assigned to AHL Daws was assigned to AHL Utica on Sunday.
Impact Daws had been solid over three appearances since the 4 Nations Face-Off break, posting a 2-0-0 record, 0.49 GAA and .981 save percentage. However, he'll head back to the minors after Jacob Markstrom (knee) was activated off injured reserve.

Sharp in win over Utah Daws allowed a goal on 25 shots in Saturday's 3-1 win over Utah.
Impact Daws has won all three of his starts at the NHL level this season, and they've all come on the road over the last month. He's allowed just three goals on 88 shots over five appearances in total. Daws was able to limit the damage Saturday to a Mikhail Sergachev goal midway through the contest. Jake Allen hasn't been at his best lately, allowing Daws a brief chance to claim more playing time before Jacob Markstrom (knee) returns to action. The Devils are in action again Sunday in Vegas, which will likely be a start for Allen.

Defending crease Saturday Daws will guard the road goal against Utah on Saturday, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact In his last start, Daws stopped 29 shots in a 5-0 win over Nashville on Sunday. He has stopped 61 of 63 shots en route to a 2-0-0 record in four NHL appearances this season. Utah is tied for 21st in the league with 2.83 goals per game in 2024-25.

Makes brief relief appearance Daws played the final 1:42 of Wednesday's 5-1 loss to the Avalanche and did not face a shot.
Impact Jake Allen was on the hook for all five goals, including three in a span of 4:04 late in the third period. Daws' time on the NHL roster may be coming to a close soon, as Jacob Markstrom is practicing with the Devils during their current five-game road trip. That leaves the goaltending plans a bit up in the air for this weekend's back-to-back (Saturday at Utah, Sunday at Vegas). If Markstrom is not cleared to return for either of those games, Daws would likely split the starts with Allen.

Posts 29-save shutout Daws recorded a 29-save shutout in Sunday's 5-0 win over the Predators.
Impact Daws has made three appearances this season, and while that's not enough to generate a strong enough sample size, there's no doubt he's turned heads so far. Over those three outings, including two starts, Daws has given up just two goals across 61 shots. The 24-year-old should get the chance to return to the ice at some point during the Devils' current road trip, as the team's next four games will be away from home.

Nico Daws records his first NHL shutout as Devils defeat Predators 5-0

Nico Daws made 29 saves to record his first NHL shutout as the New Jersey Devils defeated the Nashville Predators 5-0 on Sunday
FEBRUARY 24, 2025 • Associated Press
Starting in Nashville Daws will guard the road goal against the Predators on Sunday, per Sam Kasan of the Devils' official site.
Impact Daws will get the second half of New Jersey's back-to-back after Jake Allen played in Saturday's 4-2 loss to Dallas. The 24-year-old Daws has stopped 32 of 34 shots in two NHL outings this season. Nashville is tied for 29th in the league with 2.64 goals per game in 2024-25 and earned a 2-1 win over Colorado on Saturday.

Called up from minors The Devils recalled Daws from AHL Utica on Thursday.
Impact Daws was sent down at the break to get in some playing time and went 1-1-0. allowing six goals on 63 shots. Daws is 1-0-0 at the NHL level this season, giving up only two goals on 34 shots. He will continue to back up Jake Allen while Jacob Markstrom continues to recover from a sprained MCL.

Sent down Saturday Daws was reassigned to AHL Utica following Saturday's 4-0 win over the Canadiens.
Impact Daws served as the backup for Saturday's contest. The 24-year-old netminder made two appearances (one start) during this stint in the NHL, stopping 32 of 34 shots and going 1-0-0. Daws may be up with the Devils again in a couple of weeks, as Jacob Markstrom (knee) is expected to be out until early March.
FEBRUARY 8, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Escapes with shootout win Tuesday Daws stopped 25 shots in regulation and overtime and five of seven shootout attempts in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Penguins.
Impact The Devils took a 2-0 lead midway through the second period on Jack Hughes' second goal of the night, but Daws saw the lead slip away before the end of regulation. The 24-year-old netminder was then able to out-duel Alex Nedeljkovic in the shootout to pick up his first NHL win of the season. New Jersey plays twice more before the break for the 4 Nations Face-Off, at home Thursday against the Golden Knights and then Saturday in Montreal, but Jake Allen seems likely to get the nod in both those games. With Jacob Markstrom (knee) not expected back until at least early March, Daws may have to wait until after the break before he gets another start for the Devils.
FEBRUARY 5, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Set to start in Pittsburgh Daws will be in the road goal in Tuesday's divisional matchup against the Penguins, per Devils play-by-play announcer Bill Spaulding.
Impact Daws will make his first start of the campaign Tuesday -- he stopped all seven shots he faced in relief of Jake Allen on Sunday in a 4-3 loss to the Sabres. The 24-year-old had a 9-11-0 record, .894 save percentage and 3.15 GAA over 21 regular-season appearances in 2023-24.
FEBRUARY 4, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Plays third period Sunday Daws stopped all seven shots he faced in relief of Jake Allen in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Sabres.
Impact Allen's poor performance earned him a trip to the bench after two periods. Daws did well in mop-up duty, allowing the Devils to attempt a comeback that fell a goal short. This was Daws' first NHL appearance of the season after he went 9-11-0 with a 3.15 GAA and an .894 save percentage over 21 appearances in 2023-24. The Devils don't have a back-to-back set in the last week before the 4 Nations Face-Off, but it's possible the 24-year-old netminder will get a start in one of those three games anyway.

Up from minors Daws was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday.
Impact Daws will likely back up Jake Allen in Buffalo on Sunday as Jacob Markstrom (knee) is out another 3-5 weeks. Daws started the season with the Devils in Europe as their third goaltender, but has spent most of the season with Utica, where he was 5-14-1 with a 3.40 GAA and an .888 save percentage in 21 AHL contests.
FEBRUARY 1, 2025 • ROTOWIRE
Returned to minors Daws was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday.
Impact Daws' demotion is an indication that Jake Allen (upper body) will be ready to at least serve as the backup against St. Louis on Tuesday. Last season, the 23-year-old Daws saw action in 21 regular-season games for the Devils in which he went 9-11-0 with a 3.15 GAA. Daws has yet to get into the lineup for New Jersey this season, playing all of his games in the minors so far this year.

Up from AHL Daws was recalled from AHL Utica on Monday.
Impact New Jersey moved Isaac Poulter back to the minors in a corresponding move. Daws has a 3-9-1 record with a 2.96 GAA and a .900 save percentage through 14 AHL outings this season. The 23-year-old Daws will occupy the backup role behind Jacob Markstrom while Jake Allen (upper body) continues to recover.

Loaned to AHL affiliate Daws was reassigned to AHL Utica on Sunday.
Impact Daws posted a 9-11-0 record with a 3.15 GAA and an .894 save percentage in 21 appearances with New Jersey during the 2023-24 regular season. He could be back with the Devils if Jacob Markstrom or Jake Allen suffer injuries in 2024-25.
OCTOBER 6, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Pens two-year deal Daws inked a two-year contract with New Jersey on Tuesday.
Impact Daws contract is a two-way deal in year one before it converts to a one-way in the second year. It's an unsurprising clause when you consider the team has both Jacob Markstrom and Jake Allen under contract for the upcoming 2024-25 campaign. Looks for Daws to spend nearly the entire season in the minors with AHL Utica -- unless Markstrom or Allen picks up an injury at some point.
JULY 30, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Headed for minors Daws was reassigned to AHL Utica on Monday.
Impact Daws managed just one win in his last five outings, posting a 1-3-0 record and 2.88 GAA. With new additions Jake Allen and Kaapo Kahkonen available, Daws was the odd man out and figures to spend the remainder of the campaign in the minors, barring an injury to one of the aforementioned backstops.
MARCH 18, 2024 • ROTOWIRE
Perfect in relief Daws stopped all 16 shots he faced in relief of Kaapo Kahkonen in a 4-1 loss to Arizona on Saturday.
Impact The Devils brought Kahkonen in at the deadline, but the former Shark has lost 11 straight games and is 1-17-3 in his last 21 decisions. Daws was sharp, but he won't get a load of time with Kahkonen and Jake Allen now in town.
