Nico Daws - Starting again Saturday Daws will guard the home net Saturday against the Canadiens, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact It'll be the seventh straight appearance for Daws with Vitek Vanecek (lower body) still unavailable. The 23-year-old Daws has lost back-to-back outings, allowing 11 goals on 44 shots in that span. He'll look to right the ship Saturday against a Montreal team averaging 2.74 goals per game.

Nathan Bastian - Lands on IR Bastian (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Impact Bastian will miss at least the next three games after being injured in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers. He has registered 12 points, 57 shots on goal and 144 hits in 54 games this season. New Jersey summoned Brian Halonen from AHL Utica on Friday for some additional forward depth.

Jack Hughes - Supplies only offense in loss Hughes scored his 18th goal of the season on a game-high 10 shots on net in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact The 22-year-old also chipped in a blocked shot and a plus-1 rating, impressive considering the final score. Hughes spoiled Igor Shesterkin's shutout bid with a little over two minutes left in the third period, but it was about the only highlight for the Devils on the night. Hughes needed a couple games to shake off the rust after missing most of January and the first game after the All-Star break due to an upper-body injury, but over the last six contests he's racked up three goals and six points while putting 41 shots on net.

Impact The poor numbers for Daws can be laid squarely at the feet of a Devils' defense that committed multiple turnovers and mental errors in its own zone, but that doesn't change the fact that the 23-year-old has given up 11 goals on only 44 shots over the last two games. The pressure is mounting on New Jersey to make a splash at the trade deadline and acquire a frontline goalie, but in the short term Daws may need a breather after starting six straight games and going 3-3-0 with a 3.19 GAA and .895 save percentage.

Miller's possible return to the lineup won't help on the man advantage, as he has just six points in 35 appearances this season, none of which have come on the power play.

Impact Holtz snapped an 11-game goal drought in his previous game, Tuesday in Washington, but he failed to establish any momentum with that tally. The 22-year-old winger has a consistent spot in the lineup, having dressed for all 56 of New Jersey's games while scoring a career-high 24 points already, but his usage has been trending down. Holtz saw just 9:55 of ice time Thursday, marking the fourth time in the last five games that he has skated fewer than 10 minutes.
