Impact
Schmid was recalled from AHL Utica on Saturday, and he's now poised to make his first NHL appearance since Dec. 21. The 23-year-old Schmid is 5-7-1 with an .893 save percentage and 3.25 GAA with the Devils this season. He'll face a Lightning team that's averaging 3.39 goals per game.

Tyler Toffoli - Two helpers in Saturday's win
Toffoli notched two assists, one on the power play, in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
Impact
The veteran winger extended his point streak to five games with the effort, but it was Toffoli's first multi-point performance since he recorded a hat trick against the Golden Knights on Jan. 22. He's having a solid first season with the Devils, and through 56 games, Toffoli has 24 goals and 41 points.

Timo Meier - Two points against Habs
Meier scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
Impact
The 27-year-old winger got the Devils on the board early in the second period before setting up Jesper Bratt for what proved to be the game-winner late in the third. It's Meier's first multi-point performance since Dec. 23, and over 16 games since returning from an abdominal injury in mid-January, he's managed a tepid two goals and nine points.

Nico Daws - Hangs on for win Saturday
Daws made 23 saves in Saturday's 4-3 win over the Canadiens.
Impact
After a scoreless first period, the 23-year-old netminder had trouble keeping Montreal down once the New Jersey offense got rolling. Daws was caught too deep in his net on a Nick Suzuki tally midway through the second, and then couldn't squeeze another Suzuki shot inside the final two minutes of the third as the Habs tried to rally from a 4-2 deficit. He's allowed at least three goals in four straight starts, going 2-2-0 with a brutal .856 save percentage, and with Akira Schmid back on the NHL roster, Daws' run as the clear No. 1 for the Devils could be coming to an end.

Akira Schmid - Back in NHL
Schmid was summoned from AHL Utica on Friday.
Impact
Schmid, who was sent to the minors Wednesday, stopped 17 of 19 shots in a 2-1 loss to AHL Syracuse on Friday. He hadn't been in net for New Jersey since Dec. 21, so that extra work allowed him to shake off the rust. Nico Daws started for the Devils on Saturday, so Schmid might play between the pipes in Sunday's home game against Tampa Bay. Meanwhile, goaltender Isaac Poulter has been returned to Utica.

Poulter was reassigned to AHL Utica on Friday.
Impact
Poulter, who was called up by New Jersey on Wednesday, didn't end up making his NHL debut. He has a 2.70 GAA and a .908 save percentage in 24 AHL contests this season. Akira Schmid was recalled by the Devils in a corresponding move.

Nico Daws - Starting again Saturday
Daws will guard the home net Saturday against the Canadiens, Amanda Stein of the Devils' official site reports.
Impact
It'll be the seventh straight appearance for Daws with Vitek Vanecek (lower body) still unavailable. The 23-year-old Daws has lost back-to-back outings, allowing 11 goals on 44 shots in that span. He'll look to right the ship Saturday against a Montreal team averaging 2.74 goals per game.

Bastian (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Friday.
Impact
Bastian will miss at least the next three games after being injured in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers. He has registered 12 points, 57 shots on goal and 144 hits in 54 games this season. New Jersey summoned Brian Halonen from AHL Utica on Friday for some additional forward depth.

Jack Hughes - Supplies only offense in loss
Hughes scored his 18th goal of the season on a game-high 10 shots on net in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact
The 22-year-old also chipped in a blocked shot and a plus-1 rating, impressive considering the final score. Hughes spoiled Igor Shesterkin's shutout bid with a little over two minutes left in the third period, but it was about the only highlight for the Devils on the night. Hughes needed a couple games to shake off the rust after missing most of January and the first game after the All-Star break due to an upper-body injury, but over the last six contests he's racked up three goals and six points while putting 41 shots on net.

ROTOWIRE
Nico Daws - Burned by Blueshirts
Daws made 13 saves in Thursday's 5-1 loss to the Rangers.
Impact
The poor numbers for Daws can be laid squarely at the feet of a Devils' defense that committed multiple turnovers and mental errors in its own zone, but that doesn't change the fact that the 23-year-old has given up 11 goals on only 44 shots over the last two games. The pressure is mounting on New Jersey to make a splash at the trade deadline and acquire a frontline goalie, but in the short term Daws may need a breather after starting six straight games and going 3-3-0 with a 3.19 GAA and .895 save percentage.
