Mike Matheson - Out Wednesday Matheson (lower body) will miss Wednesday's game against Columbus.
Impact Matheson was also absent for Montreal's 3-2 overtime loss to Utah on Tuesday. He has a goal and 13 points in 20 appearances in 2024-25. When healthy, Matheson typically serves on the Canadiens' top four and first power-play unit. Lane Hutson is getting increased power-play responsibilities while Matheson is unavailable. Kaiden Guhle, who usually doesn't factor in on the power play, is projected to serve on the second unit Wednesday.

Impact Xhekaj helped out on an Alex Newhook tally in the third period. This was Xhekaj's second assist in the last four games, accounting for all of his offense this season. The physical defenseman has added 14 shots on net, 23 PIM, 44 hits, 16 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 18 outings. He has limited scoring upside, which in turn puts a cap on his usefulness in fantasy.

Christian Dvorak - Collects helper Tuesday Dvorak produced an assist, two shots on goal and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Utah.
Impact Dvorak snapped a four-game slump with the primary helper on Alex Newhook's third-period marker. The 28-year-old Dvorak is holding steady in a middle-six role, playing as a two-way center. He has two goals, six helpers, 25 shots on net, 23 blocked shots and a minus-6 rating over 21 appearances. His 2023-24 was interrupted by two long-term injuries, but he posted no fewer than 28 points in the four campaigns before that, and that seems to be a reasonable level of offense for him to aim for this season.

David Savard - Nabs helper in overtime loss Savard provided an assist, two blocked shots and 12 PIM in Tuesday's 3-2 overtime loss to Utah.
Impact Savard ended an eight-game point drought when he helped out on Jayden Struble's second-period tally. The 34-year-old Savard also missed one game due to an injury in that span. Offense has never been his priority as a shutdown defender. He's doing fine with five assists, 12 shots on net, 52 blocked shots, 18 hits, 16 PIM and a minus-4 rating over 20 outings this season, playing mainly in a top-four role.
