Rafael Harvey-Pinard - Unavailable Sunday Harvey-Pinard (lower body) won't play Sunday against St. Louis, according to Jonathan Bernier of Le Journal de Montreal.
Impact Harvey-Pinard will miss at least one contest after getting injured in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Dallas. He has chipped in one goal and six assists in 24 NHL outings this campaign. Harvey-Pinard will be replaced in the lineup by Joshua Roy.

Sam Montembeault - Downed by Dallas Montembeault turned aside 35 shots in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Stars.
Impact He was by far the busier netminder on the afternoon, as Montreal got out-shot 38-20, and Dallas got three pucks past Montembeault in the second period. Seeing a lot of rubber is nothing new for him, though -- Montembeault has faced 30 or more shots in every outing since the beginning of January, posting a 5-3-1 record in nine starts with a 3.28 GAA and .915 save percentage.

Alex Newhook - Returns to action Newhook had three shots on net and one hit over 18:52 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Stars.
Impact Newhook returned to action after missing 27 games due to a high-ankle sprain. He skated on the third line and resumed a role on the top power-play unit (5:33 PPTOI). With Sean Monahan traded to Winnipeg, the Canadiens are looking at Newhook for depth scoring.

Juraj Slafkovsky - Extends goal streak Slafkovsky had a goal on two shots, one block and two hits over 19:30 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Dallas.
Impact Slafkovsky beat Jake Oettinger over the shoulder from sharp angle to put the final touches on a wild second period. The tally extended a goal streak to three games and point streak to four. Slafkovsky's move to the top line wasn't an immediate success -- he was held pointless in the first six games following the move -- but it eventually unlocked the 19-year-old's offense. The young Slovak forward has 16 points (eight goals, eight assists) over the last 22 contests.

Mike Matheson - Drops two-pointer in loss Matheson had two assists, two shots, one block, two hits and two penalty minutes over 26:53 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Dallas.
Impact Matheson was the secondary helper on both Montreal goals -- his second consecutive game with two assists -- and extended a point streak to four games. The two points upped his season total to 38, ranking 12th among defenseman scoring.

Cole Caufield - Extends streak with assist Caufield logged an assist, four shots and one block over 19:51 of ice time in Saturday's 3-2 loss to the Stars.
Impact Caufield extended his career-high point streak to 11 games with a sneaky assist on Nick Suzuki's tally early in the second period. Caufield cleared the puck to space in the neutral, but the it was intended to be pass off the boards for Nick Suzuki, who snuck behind the Dallas defense and beat Jake Oettinger to give the Canadiens a 1-0 lead. The duo of Caufield and Suzuki have been on the same line together for three seasons now, and the chemistry showed on this play. Caufield has six goals and eight assists during his streak and has 41 points through 51 contests.

Nick Suzuki - Stays hot Suzuki had a goal and an assist in Saturday's 3-2 loss to Dallas. He finished with one shot, one block and two hits over 25:23 of ice time.
Impact Suzuki snuck in behind the Stars' defense and retrieved pass off the boards from Cole Caulfield before beating Jake Oettinger to the far side for his fourth tally in the last four games. He later assisted on a Juraj Slafkovsky tally. The multi-point night extended his point streak to six contests, during which Suzuki has four goals and six assists. Montreal's captain is up to 47 points through 51 games.

Impact Harvey-Pinard needed help to get to the dressing room after colliding with teammate Joel Armia early in the second period of Montreal's 3-2 loss to the Stars. As a potential replacement for Sunday's contest against St. Louis on Sunday, the Canadiens brought up Joshua Roy from AHL Laval on Saturday.

Alex Newhook - Expected Saturday Newhook (ankle) is expected to play Saturday afternoon against Dallas, Herb Zurkowsky of the Montreal Gazette reports.
Impact The Canadiens haven't confirmed Newhook's status for Saturday's 1:00 pm ET puck drop, but head coach Martin St. Louis acknowledged earlier this week that the 23-year-old forward is close. He hasn't played since Nov. 30. During Friday's practice, he worked with the first power-play unit, but line placement is uncertain. Prior to the injury, Newhook occupied a top-six role including stints at wing on the top line with Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield. It looks like Juraj Slafkovsky has achieved a level of comfort on the top line, so Newhook could return to the second line. He got off to a promising start with Montreal, posting 13 points over the first 23 games, including two two-goal games and six points over seven games at the time of his injury.
