Sam Montembeault - Starting in Dallas Montembeault will guard the road goal Tuesday versus Dallas, according to Patrick Friolet of RDS.
Impact Montembeault has permitted three goals or more in each of his past five outings en route to a 1-2-2 record during that stretch. In 26 appearances this season, he has posted a 7-5-3 record with a 2.94 GAA and a .903 save percentage. The Stars rank second in the league with 3.60 goals per contest this campaign.

Christian Dvorak - Unavailable Tuesday Dvorak (upper body) won't be in the lineup Tuesday against Dallas, according to coach Martin St. Louis.
Impact Dvorak will miss his second straight contest. It's unclear at this time when he will be available to return. Dvorak didn't take part in the morning skate Tuesday because he was receiving treatments. Montreal is expected to dress seven defensemen and 11 forwards again, so Johnny Kovacevic will remain in the lineup.

Michael Matheson - On scoresheet again Matheson had an assist, one shot on net, two blocked shots, three hits and two penalty minutes over 25:27 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
Impact Matheson's shot bounced of Juraj Slafkovsky and landed on the stick of Nick Suzuki, who potted Montreal's third goal. The assist extended Matheson's point streak to six games. The blueliner now has 27 points (six goals, 21 assists) over 36 games.

Impact Mike Matheson's shot toward the net bounced off Slafkovsky onto the stick of Nick Suzuki, who beat Jonas Johansson for Montreal's final goal. He's recently reaped the rewards of skating on the top line with Suzuki and Cole Caufield. The 19-year old forward has two goals and four assists over the last seven contests. Prior to this productive stretch, Slafkovsky had just seven points over his first 29 games.

Impact A Mike Matheson shot from the point bounced of Juraj Slavkovsky onto the stick of Suzuki, who beat Jonas Johansson from a difficult angle. The tally was Suzuki's 11th of the season and third in the last five games. Montreal's top-line center finished a productive month of December with 14 points (five goals, nine assists) over 13 games.

Johnathan Kovacevic - Returns to lineup, scores Kovacevic scored a goal on one shot and had one hit over 11:23 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Lightning.
Impact Kovacevic, who returned to the active lineup after two games as a healthy scratch, scored what may be the strangest goal in the NHL this season. Montreal goalie Sam Montembeault made a save and appeared to glove the puck, but the officials never blew the whistle. Tampa Bay skaters, believing there was a stoppage in play, skated to the bench while goalie Jonas Johansson skated out of his net toward the corner as goalies are wont to do during stoppages. Meanwhile, Montembeault dropped the puck to Kovacevic, who fired it from his own end into the net. The officials reviewed the goal, apparently listening for a whistle and never heard one. It was the fifth tally of the season for Kovacevic.

Cole Caufield - Strikes again in loss Caufield scored a goal on four shots and blocked a shot over 23:11 of ice time in Sunday's 4-3 loss to Tampa Bay.
Impact Nick Suzuki and Caufield hounded Steven Stamkos in the Lightning zone, forcing a turnover that Caufield converted into an unassisted goal to open the scoring. It was the second consecutive game with a goal for Caufield, who has 10 tallies in 36 games.

Sam Montembeault - Falls to Tampa Bay Montembault allowed four goals on 20 shots in Sunday's 4-3 loss to the Lightning.
Impact Montembeault kept Tampa off the board in the opening period, but he'd allow two goals apiece in the second and third frames in a one-goal defeat. The 27-year-old netminder has now dropped four of his last five starts, falling to 7-5-3 with a .903 save percentage and 2.94 GAA this year. Montembeault should continue rotating starts with Jake Allen and Cayden Primeau in Montreal.
