Snags assist in win Kunin recorded an assist, two blocked shots and two PIM in Thursday's 2-1 win over the Flyers.

Impact Kunin wasn't expected to play much after singing a one-year contract with the Panthers in late August. However, Aleksander Barkov's (knee) absence for the full regular season has shifted the center depth for Florida, allowing Kunin to begin the year as a fourth-liner over Cole Schwindt and Noah Gregor. Kunin has racked up three shots on net, one hit, two blocks, four PIM and a plus-2 rating over his first two games of the year. He had 31 points over 63 outings in 2019-20 but has topped the 20-point mark just once in the five years since then, so he has almost no scoring upside.

Inks one-year deal Kunin signed a one-year contract with Florida on Friday.

Impact Kunin contributed 11 goals, 18 points, 112 shots on net, 77 blocked shots and 187 hits across 75 regular-season appearances between San Jose and Columbus in 2024-25. He will compete for a depth role with the Panthers during training camp, but he may not play regularly in the 2025-26 campaign.

Although he doesn't do a ton offensively, his physicality should be of value to the Blue Jackets as they look to make the playoffs for the first time since 2020. Kunin will likely serve in the middle six.

Impact It seems Kunin's three-year stint with the Sharks is coming to an end, with the expectation that he will be moved prior to Friday's trade deadline.
