Starting Saturday
Gibson will defend the visiting cage in Montreal on Saturday, according to Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press.
Impact
Gibson is 11-2-0 with a 2.17 GAA and a .927 save percentage since the beginning of December, cementing his role as the Red Wings' No. 1 goaltender. Overall, Gibson is 15-9-1 with a pair of shutouts, a 2.86 GAA and an .898 save percentage across 26 outings. The Canadiens are tied for fourth in NHL scoring with Edmonton, averaging 3.39 goals per game.

Sharp in win over Vancouver
Gibson made 23 saves in Thursday's 5-1 win over the Canucks.
Impact
Jake DeBrusk got a puck past him on a Vancouver power play midway through the second period, but otherwise Gibson was able to handle everything the visitors fired his way. The veteran netminder has been thriving with a heavy workload, and over his last 12 starts Gibson has gone 10-2-0 with a 2.01 GAA and .931 save percentage.

Tending twine against Vancouver
Gibson will defend the home crease against the Canucks on Thursday, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Gibson has alternated wins and losses over his last five starts, going 3-2-0 with a 2.63 GAA and .913 save percentage during that time. He made a road start against Vancouver on Dec. 8 and turned aside all 39 shots he saw in a 4-0 victory.

Earns first star in win
Gibson turned aside 35 of 38 shots on goal in Monday's 5-3 win over the Senators.
Impact
Gibson played with a lead for the majority of the contest, giving him the confidence to post his second-highest save total in a game this season. With the win, the 35-year-old netminder is up to a 14-9-1 record with a 2.94 GAA and an .897 save percentage through 25 appearances this season. Since his stretch of strong play began Dec. 2, he has a 10-2-0 record with a 2.26 GAA and a .925 save percentage across 12 outings. A very small list of netminders have been better during this time, giving Detroit's new 1A option a bright fantasy outlook moving forward. He is a top waiver wire target across most two-goalie formats, and his next chance to take the ice is Thursday against the Canucks.

Between pipes Monday
Gibson will tend the twine on the road versus the Senators on Monday, Daniella Bruce of the Red Wings' official site reports.
Impact
Gibson has taken the bulk of the workload since the start of December, appearing in 11 of the Wings' 18 outings. During the stretch, the veteran netminder has been fantastic, as he has posted a 9-2-0 record, 2.20 GAA and one shutout. As long as Gibson continues to rack up wins, he should continue to feature prominently in Detroit's goalie rotation.

Exceptional but on losing end
Gibson made 27 saves in a 4-1 loss to the Penguins on Saturday. He allowed two goals.
Impact
The loss wasn't on him -- he was exceptional when the wingless wonders swarmed the offensive zone. Gibson has gone 1-2-0 since Christmas and after an eight-game winning streak. He is 13-9-1 with two shutouts, 2.93 GAA and .895 save percentage in 24 starts overall.

Bounces back with strong outing
Gibson turned aside 23 of 24 shots on net in Wednesday's 2-1 win over the Jets.
Impact
Gibson turned in a fantastic performance in Wednesday's contest, as he didn't allow a goal until the 47-minute mark while Detroit's offense had already scored two goals. With the win, he is up to a 13-8-1 record with a 2.97 GAA and an .893 save percentage through 23 outings this season. After losing his first game in nine tries in his last appearance, the win brings him up to a 9-1-0 record with a 2.21 GAA and a .925 save percentage over his last 10 starts. During that stretch, he allowed two goals or less exactly half of those starts, which includes two shutouts. The Red Wings currently hold a two-point lead over the rest of the Atlantic Division and have shown no signs of slowing down. With Gibson commanding a bulk of the team's starts, he could be in for one of the best seasons of his career, making him a top waiver-wire add in a solid chunk of fantasy formats.

Impact
Gibson has a 12-8-1 record, 3.07 GAA and .891 save percentage in 22 appearances in 2025-26. He saw his eight-game winning streak come to an end when he allowed four goals on 37 shots in a 5-2 loss to Carolina on Saturday. The Jets rank 22nd in goals per game with 2.86.

First loss in last nine starts
Gibson made 33 saves in a 5-2 loss to Carolina on Saturday.
Impact
He allowed four goals. Gibson's personal eight-game winning streak ended Saturday. The Canes are one of the NHL's top goal-scoring teams, and they turned up the heat. Still, Gibson had been dominant in December, running up an 8-0-0 record with two shutouts and a .927 save percentage prior to Saturday. He looks a bit like the netminder he was eight-to-10 years ago, but we don't know if we should say that out loud. But there's a chance Gibson is back.

Set to face Carolina
Gibson is expected to start on the road against Carolina on Saturday, per Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer.
Impact
Gibson will look to extend his personal winning streak to nine games after allowing just 17 goals on 233 shots (.927 save percentage) across his past eight appearances. He's 12-7-1 with a 3.01 GAA and an .891 save percentage in 21 outings this year. Carolina is a difficult adversary with a 22-11-3 record. The Hurricanes are tied for sixth in goals per game with 3.25.

ROTOWIRE
Dominant December continues
Gibson made 19 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over Dallas on Tuesday.
Impact
Two of the goals came on the power play. December has been Gibson's month. He's 8-0-0 with two shutouts and a .927 save percentage. Gibson's overall stat line remains average (3.01 GAA and .891 save percentage), so there might be a manager or two who haven't noticed he's gotten hot. You might be able to get him relatively cheap.
