In goal for Sunday
Gibson will patrol the home crease versus Chicago on Sunday, according to Ansar Khan of MLive.com.
Impact
Gibson has lost his last two starts but he couldn't be blamed in his previous game, allowing only one goal on 34 shots in a 1-0 loss in Vegas. Overall, Gibson is 4-4-0 with a 3.03 GAA and an .890 save percentage over eight starts this season. The Blackhawks are 14th in NHL scoring, averaging 3.20 goals per game, a vast improvement over 2023-24, when they were 26th in the league, scoring at a 2.73 goals-per-game pace.

Gets no support in loss
Gibson stopped 33 of 34 shots in Tuesday's 1-0 loss to the Golden Knights.
Impact
Gibson put in a good performance, but the Red Wings were unable to get a puck past Akira Schmid in the other crease. This was arguably one of Gibson's best performances of the season despite the unfortunate result. He's now 4-4-0 with a 3.03 GAA and an .890 save percentage across eight starts. The Red Wings have alternated goalies over the last week, so it wouldn't be surprising to see that trend continue. If it holds, Cam Talbot would face the Rangers on Friday and Gibson's next start would come against the Blackhawks on Sunday for the first two games of Detroit's upcoming homestand.

In goal against Knights
Gibson will get the starting nod on the road versus Vegas on Tuesday, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact
Gibson will make his eighth appearance of the season, having gone 4-3-0 with a 3.32 GAA in his prior seven outings. Thus far, Gibson and Cam Talbot have split the starts pretty evenly, with the 32-year-old Gibson holding the slight edge with seven appearances in 13 games. The split share will likely continue all season with the hot hand getting the start.

Loses to former team
Gibson allowed four goals on 31 shots in Friday's 5-2 loss to the Ducks. The fifth goal was an empty-netter.
Impact
Gibson has allowed four goals in three of his last four outings, so he's a bit lucky to be 2-2-0 in that span. The 32-year-old wasn't able to fend off his former teammates in his return to Anaheim after the offseason trade that sent him to Detroit. Gibson is 4-3-0 with a 3.32 GAA and an .875 save percentage over seven appearances. The Red Wings visit the Sharks on Sunday, but they haven't announced a starting goalie for that contest at this time.

Set to start Friday
Gibson will serve as the starting netminder for Friday's road game against Anaheim, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact
The Red Wings have a back-to-back set to close out the week, and Cam Talbot will start Thursday in Los Angeles while Gibson handles the second half of the back-to-back in a matchup against his former team. Gibson has started in five of the Red Wings' last six games, going 4-1-0 with a 2.60 GAA and .902 save percentage during that time.

Picks up second straight win
Gibson made 20 out of 22 saves in Tuesday's 5-2 win over the Blues.
Impact
Outside of an early goal from Brayden Schenn and a late twine finder from Jordan Kyrou, Gibson was extremely steady, which allowed the Wings to pick up their second consecutive win. The 32-year-old netminder is up to a 4-2-0 record with a .876 save percentage and a 3.20 GAA. Tuesday's performance was one of Gibson's stronger outings of the year and he's beginning to provide a premium in the win column for fantasy owners. He's appeared in five of Detroit's last six games, and his success in that run has cemented his hold on the starting spot over Cam Talbot. Ride this wave in fantasy while Gibson commands the opportunities, as a combination of injuries and inconsistencies has stymied his value in prior seasons.

Starting against St. Louis
Gibson will serve as the starting netminder for Tuesday's road game against St. Louis, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports.
Impact
Gibson picked up the win at home against the Blues in his last start, and he'll have a chance to face St. Louis again Tuesday. He's started in four of the Red Wings' last five games, going 3-1-0 with a 2.75 GAA and .900 save percentage during that time.

Beaten four times, picks up win
Gibson stopped 25 of 29 shots in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Blues.
Impact
Gibson was beaten four times between the first period and the early stages of the second frame. However, he shut the door afterward, and after receiving support from an offense that scored six unanswered goals, he ended up claiming the win. Despite winning three of his five starts this season, Gibson hasn't been a reliable presence between the pipes for Detroit. He's allowed at least four goals in three of those outings while stopping 107 of the 123 shots he's faced thus far.

Facing Blues
Gibson will patrol the home crease against St. Louis on Saturday, per Lou Korac of The Hockey News.
Impact
Gibson's two-game winning streak ended in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to Buffalo. He has a 2-2-0 record this campaign while stopping 82 of the 94 shots he has faced. St. Louis is tied for 21st in the league with 2.86 goals per game this season.

Allows four goals in loss
Gibson stopped 27 of 31 shots in Wednesday's 4-2 loss to the Sabres.
Impact
Gibson had won his previous two starts, and he kept the Sabres off the board for half the game. They then scored two goals in the second and third periods, which the Red Wings couldn't match. Gibson is 2-2-0 with 12 goals allowed over four starts this season. He's not bringing much consistency to the crease, and Cam Talbot has won all three of his starts so far. Talbot is likely to get the nod for Thursday versus the Islanders, but it's anybody's guess who gets the crease for Detroit beyond that.

Tending twine against Buffalo
Gibson will start Wednesday's road game against the Sabres, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports.
Impact
Gibson will draw a third consecutive start after he went 2-0-0 with a 1.46 GAA and .940 save percentage over his last two outings. Although he'll be on the road Wednesday, he has a favorable matchup against the Sabres, who have averaged just 2.50 goals per game to begin the year, which is the fifth-worst mark in the league.

Coasts to win Sunday
Gibson made 16 saves on 18 attempts in Sunday's 4-2 win over the Oilers.
Impact
Gibson had a relatively easy outing Sunday as he saw just 18 shots on goal from the reigning Western Conference champs. The 32-year-old netminder tended a clean first period before allowing the first goal halfway through the second period. The latter of the two he surrendered was against Leon Draisaitl, the reigning Rocket Richard Trophy winner. Sunday's victory was Gibson's second consecutive win between the pipes, and he now has a 2-1-0 record, a 2.98 GAA, and a .873 save percentage through three appearances. His early numbers this season aren't quite what he posted in 29 regular-season appearances a year ago, but he continues to find a way to outduel opposing goalies. If both Gibson and Cam Talbot remain healthy, Gibson should have solid streaming value and is a candidate for spot starts when his name is called. After playing in Detroit's last two contests, he will likely have a game off before having a chance to appear against the New York Islanders on Thursday.
