In goal for Game 3 Markstrom will get the starting nod at home versus the Hurricanes in Game 3 on Friday, per NHL.com.

Impact Markstrom has put up decent ratios in the previous two postseason contests, registering a 2.52 GAA and a .930 save percentage. Still, that hasn't stopped the veteran netminder from losing both outings and sliding into a four-game losing streak. If he can get some additional offensive support -- the Devils have scored just two goals in their two playoff contests -- Markstrom could break out of the loss column Friday.

Gets little help in Game 2 loss Markstrom stopped 25 of 27 shots in Tuesday's 3-1 loss to the Hurricanes in Game 2 of their first-round series.

Impact New Jersey grabbed a 1-0 lead early in the first period on a Jesper Bratt tally, but the game belonged to Carolina after that, with the game-winner coming on a Jordan Martinook shorthanded rush early in the second. Markstrom has played well to begin the postseason, giving up five goals on 71 shots, but that hasn't stopped the Devils from falling into an 0-2 hole. They'll try to turn things around when the series shifts to Jersey for Game 3 on Friday.

Looking to even series Tuesday Markstrom will be between the road pipes against the Hurricanes on Tuesday in Game 2.

Impact Markstrom handled his largest workload of the season in Game 1 on Sunday, turning aside 41 of 44 shots on net, but the Devils were only able to muster up one goal. It won't get any easier in Game 2, as New Jersey will be without Luke Hughes (upper body) and Brenden Dillon (lower body). Dennis Cholowski and Simon Nemec will make their playoff debuts due to those injuries, so Markstrom will need to be in top form in order to send the series back to New Jersey tied at 1-1.

Impact Markstrom was put under pressure by Carolina's offense throughout the entire game. While he allowed three goals, he played well to save 41 shots including eight chances with a man disadvantage. He ended his first game of the postseason with a .932 save percentage. Markstrom has a strong regular season with 26-16-6 record but has lost his last three outings and is winless since New Jersey's April 5 matchup. If New Jersey's blue line can provide Markstrom with a stronger backing for the rest of the series, he should be in a better spot to turn the tides in New Jersey's favor.
