Tending twine Sunday Raanta will guard the road goal Sunday against the Islanders in Game 4, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact Raanta made 32 saves on 36 shots in Friday's 5-1 loss to New York. He has a 2-1 record this postseason, permitting eight goals on 88 shots. The Islanders rank 14th in the playoffs with 3.00 goals per game.

Sharp in Game 4 win Raanta made 27 saves Sunday during a 5-2 win over the Islanders in Game 4 of the Hurricanes' first-round series.
Impact He took a shutout into the third period, and while the Isles did finally get on the board, they were down 4-0 before they did so. The 33-year-old netminder sports a 3-1 record and a .915 save percentage to begin Carolina's playoff run, and with Frederik Andersen (undisclosed) not 100 percent, Raanta should be between the pipes again Tuesday as the Canes try to punch their tickets to the second round.

Fades late in Game 3 loss Raanta stopped 32 of 36 shots Friday in a 5-1 loss to the Islanders in Game 3 of the Hurricanes' first-round series.
Impact The two teams were tied 1-1 heading into the third period, but Raanta wound up on the wrong end of history when the Isles set a playoff record by scoring four times in only 2:18, although the netminder was on the bench for the last one. The stumble might open the door for Frederik Andersen to take the crease for Game 4 on Sunday, but Raanta's 2.60 GAA and .909 save percentage through the first three games of the series have helped Carolina to a 2-1 lead.
APRIL 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Weak on road during playoffs Raanta is 0-7 with a 3.78 GAA and .874 save percentage on the road in his NHL career, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact While Raanta is weak on the road, he is a perfect 8-0 at home in his career, with a 1.64 GAA and .939 save percentage. Raanta dropped Game 3 on Long Island, giving up four goals on 36 shots Friday. The Hurricanes will likely go with Frederik Andersen in Game 4 on Sunday, if he has recovered from his illness. Stay tuned.

Expected to face Islanders Raanta is expected to guard the road crease in Game 3 against the Islanders on Friday, per Andrew Gross of Newsday.
Impact Raanta has saved 48 of 52 shots en route to winning the first two games of Carolina's series against New York. He had a 19-3-3 record, 2.23 GAA and .910 save percentage in 27 regular-season appearances. The Islanders had the 22nd-ranked offense with 2.95 goals per game during the 2022-23 campaign.

Hurricanes sticking with goalie Antti Raanta, same lineup for Game 2 of NHL playoffs Canes coach Rod Brind’Amour had been using a rotation of Antti Raanta and Frederik Andersen down the stretch of the regular season.
APRIL 19, 2023 • CHARLOTTEOBSERVER.COM
In goal Wednesday Raanta will get the starting nod at home versus the Islanders in Game 2 on Wednesday, Kevin Kurz of The Athletic reports.
Impact Raanta will appear in back-to-back games for the first time since late January after putting together a 25-save winning effort over New York in Game 1. Despite the 33-year-old Finn starting Wednesday, he figures to remain on a relatively short leash with Frederik Andersen waiting for an opportunity to start as well. At this point, it seems likely that coach Rod Brind'Amour will continue to ride the hot hand as long as the Canes are in the playoffs.

Gets second straight postseason win Raanta stopped 23 of 26 shots in a 4-3 overtime win over the Islanders in Game 2 on Wednesday.
Impact Raanta also saved 25 of 26 shots in the series opener, so he's improved to 2-0 in the 2023 playoffs. He did run into some problems during the second period of Wednesday's contest, allowing two goals on eight shots, but Carolina provided him with enough support to pull through. Raanta was solid during the regular season, posting a 19-3-3 record, 2.23 GAA and .910 save percentage in 27 appearances.

In goal for Game 1 Raanta will get the starting nod in Monday's Game 1 home clash with the Islanders, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact Raanta came up just one victory shy of a 20-win season, which would have been his first time heading that threshold since 2017-18 when he was with the Coyotes. The Canes have been rotating starts between Raanta and Frederik Andersen and it appears that trend will continue into the postseason. In his last four appearances, Raanta posted a 3-1-0 record, 1.74 GAA and one shutout. If coach Rod Brind'Amour continues the flip between backstops, look for Andersen to be between the pipes for Game 2 on Wednesday.
APRIL 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Earns win in Game 1 Raanta stopped 24 of 25 shots in Monday's 2-1 win over the Islanders.
Impact Raanta was sharp in Carolina's series-opening victory, allowing just a second-period goal to Ryan Pulock. The 33-year-old Raanta finished the regular season with wins in three of his last four starts, sporting a .925 save percentage in that span. He figures to split starting duties with Frederik Andersen during the postseason.
APRIL 17, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Sharp in Tuesday's win Raanta made 20 saves in Tuesday's 4-1 win over the Red Wings.
Impact Robert Hagg snapped a shot past him early in the second period to ruin his shutout bid, but otherwise Raanta didn't have much trouble containing Detroit's skaters. The 33-year-old netminder has won three of four starts since returning from a lower-body injury at the beginning of April, and on the season Raanta sports a 2.23 GAA and .910 save percentage.

Facing Red Wings Raanta will guard the home goal Tuesday versus the Red Wings, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact Raanta has won two of his last three outings, stopping 66 of 72 shots in that span. He'll have a pretty favorable matchup for this one, as the Red Wings have lost three games in a row.
APRIL 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Rattled by Sabres Raanta made 26 saves in Saturday's 4-3 loss to Buffalo.
Impact After winning his first two starts in April following his return from a lower-body injury, Raanta took a rare regulation loss against the Sabres -- only his third of the season, and first since Nov. 12. Carolina's normally stingy defense also allowed the veteran netminder to face at least 30 shots for the first time since Feb. 24. Raanta sports a stellar 2.28 GAA despite a merely solid .909 save percentage, and with the Hurricanes playing on back-to-back nights one more time this season -- Monday in Ottawa and Tuesday at home against the Red Wings -- he should see one final start to try and improve on his 18-3-3 record.
APRIL 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Starting Saturday Raanta will defend the visiting crease versus Buffalo on Saturday, Heather Engel of NHL.com reports.
Impact Raanta has won his last eight decisions and is 18-2-3 this season with four shutouts. The netminder has a 2.20 GAA and .911 save percentage. He has a tough matchup versus the Sabres, who are third in NHL scoring, averaging 3.58 goals per contest.
APRIL 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Picks up overtime win Raanta stopped 26 of 28 shots, leading the Hurricanes to a 3-2 overtime victory over the Senators on Tuesday.
Impact Raanta was solid Tuesday, allowing a goal in the second period to Claude Giroux and a power-play goal to Alex DeBrincat in the third period. He shut the door after, allowing the Hurricanes to pick up the win in overtime. Coming off a 14-save shutout over Montreal, Tuesday's win marked back-to-back wins for the Finnish netminder. He should serve as the backup to Frederik Andersen moving forward.

Guarding goal Tuesday Raanta will patrol the home crease Tuesday against Ottawa, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Impact Raanta is coming off a 14-save shutout win over the Canadiens on Saturday. He has a 17-2-3 record this season with a 2.22 GAA and a .910 save percentage. The Senators sit 19th in the league this campaign with 3.14 goals per game.
