INJURIES

Team rallies to earn win for him Raanta made 22 saves in a 4-3 overtime win over the Islanders.
Impact He surrendered three goals before the Canes rallied to tie and then win the game. Raanta has won two straight games, but his overall numbers are thin. He has a 3.03 GAA and .870 save percentage. Plus the three-headed goal monster in Raleigh makes it hard for them to get enough consistent time in the paint to establish a groove.
NOVEMBER 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Tending twine versus Islanders Raanta will protect the road goal versus the Islanders on Saturday, Andrew Gross of Newsday reports.
Impact Raanta posted a 20-save shutout against the Sharks in his previous outing, but Frederik Andersen has started the last two games. With an .867 save percentage over four games, Raanta hasn't played all that well early in 2023-24. The Islanders have scored just 16 goals over their last six games, making this a favorable spot for Raanta to try to build on his last start.
NOVEMBER 4, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Shuts out toothless Sharks Raanta turned aside all 20 shots he faced in a 3-0 win on Friday against the Sharks.
Impact It was the 20th career shutout for Raanta, and his first since April 1 of last season against the Canadiens. It was his first shutout at PNC Arena since Feb. 24, 2023 against the Senators. He was nearly dinged for a goal in the third period, as Nico Sturm rang one off of the pipes, saving Raanta's shutout. He'll continue to share playing time with Frederik Andersen as long as both goalies remain healthy.
OCTOBER 28, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Defending cage against Sharks Raanta will tend the twine for Friday's home clash with San Jose, per NHL.com.
Impact Raanta will be between the pipes for the first time since Oct. 19 against the Kraken, when he gave up four goals on 18 shots before getting pulled. In total, the veteran backstop has made three appearances for the Hurricanes this season, going 1-1-0 with a sub-par 4.41 GAA and .818 save percentage over that span. If he continues to struggle, Frederik Andersen could see an even larger portion of the workload going forward.
OCTOBER 27, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Not starting after all Raanta won't start Saturday versus the Avalanche, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Impact With the Hurricanes carrying three goalies right now, there was some confusion earlier in the day as to who would start. Raanta was initially projected to start, but Pyotr Kochetkov will get the nod instead.
OCTOBER 22, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Expected to play Saturday Raanta will guard the visiting goal versus Colorado on Saturday, Ryan Boulding of NHL.com reports.
Impact Frederik Andersen was the first goaltender off the ice at practice, but he is not ready to play as he still has an upper-body injury. Raanta is 1-1-0 this season and has not played well, having allowed 10 goals on 55 shots in three starts. He will face the 4-0-0 Avalanche, who have scored 15 goals in four games.
OCTOBER 21, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles in Seattle Raanta stopped 14 of 18 shots in Thursday's 7-4 loss to the Kraken.
Impact Raanta was pulled early in the second period after giving up four goals, including two on Kraken power plays and one while they were shorthanded. The Hurricanes' offense ultimately got him off the hook, with Pyotr Kochetkov giving up the game-winning goal in the third period. Raanta has not looked sharp so far, stopping just 45 of 55 shots across three appearances (two starts). He has a loose grip on the starting job while Frederik Andersen (upper body) is out.
OCTOBER 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Set to face Kraken Raanta is slated to guard the road net Thursday versus Seattle, according to Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site.
Impact Raanta has a 1-1-0 record, 3.16 GAA and .838 save percentage in two contests this campaign. Seattle has been struggling, going 0-3-1 to start the season while scoring just three goals in that span.
OCTOBER 19, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Earns win in relief Raanta stopped 12 of 14 shots in relief of Frederik Andersen (upper body) in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Sharks.
Impact Raanta entered early in the first period after Andersen took a shot off the mask and left the game. While it wasn't a particularly sharp outing, Raanta ended up with his first win in his second appearance this season. He would likely take over the starting job if Andersen misses any extended period of time. The Hurricanes' road trip continues Thursday in Seattle.
OCTOBER 18, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Struggles in first start Raanta allowed four goals on 23 shots in Sunday's 6-3 loss to the Ducks. The last two goals were empty-netters.
Impact Raanta was blitzed for three tallies in the first period. The Hurricanes improved as the game went on, but they couldn't catch up. The 34-year-old had a 2.23 GAA and a .910 save percentage in 27 games last season, but this was a disappointing first start of the season. With Frederik Andersen winning his first two starts, Raanta will likely be back in the backup role for Tuesday's game in San Jose.
OCTOBER 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Starting in Anaheim Raanta will guard the road goal in Sunday's game versus the Ducks, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Impact Raanta will start the second half of a back-to-back after Frederik Andersen yielded five goals in a shootout win over the Kings on Saturday. The expectation is that the Hurricanes will rotate goalies regularly this year rather than riding one starter, but Raanta will likely handle a slightly smaller share of the workload. The 34-year-old impressed in 27 games last season with a 19-3-3 record, a 2.23 GAA and a .910 save percentage.
OCTOBER 16, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Hurricanes Sign Antti Raanta to One-Year Extension The Carolina Hurricanes re-sign Antti Raanta for another year on a $1.5-million deal.
JULY 1, 2023 • NEWSOBSERVER.COM

JULY 1, 2023 • THEATHLETIC.COM
Signs one-year contract Raanta inked a one-year, $1.5 million deal with Carolina on Saturday, Darren Dreger of TSN reports.
Impact Raanta looks poised to enter the upcoming season as the No. 1 option between the pipes with the potential departure of Frederik Andersen. Last season, the 33-year-old logged 27 games in which he posted a 19-3-3 record with a 2.23 GAA and four shutouts.
JULY 1, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Receives starting nod Saturday Raanta will guard the home goal versus the Panthers on Saturday in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Finals, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.
Impact Raanta hasn't played since Game 5 of the first round after battling an illness. In that time, Frederik Andersen took over the starting role. It's possible that head coach Rod Brind'Amour is choosing to rest Andersen after he played all of Thursday's quadruple-overtime loss in Game 1. Raanta has gone 3-2 with a 2.59 GAA and a .906 save percentage in five playoff appearances.
MAY 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Loses in overtime Raanta stopped 24 of 26 shots in Saturday's 2-1 overtime loss to the Panthers in Game 2.
Impact Raanta turned in a solid effort, but Jesperi Kotkaniemi's hooking penalty came back to bite the Hurricanes quickly. Raanta is now 3-3 across six playoff appearances, allowing 15 goals on 165 shots. It wouldn't be surprising to see Frederik Andersen back in goal for Game 3 on Monday, which would send Raanta back to the backup role.
MAY 20, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Recovers from illness Raanta (illness) is good to return to the lineup for Game 5 against New Jersey on Thursday, according to Tom Gulitti of NHL.com.
Impact Raanta has a 3-2 record, 2.59 GAA and .906 save percentage in five playoff contests this year. Frederik Andersen is expected to start Thursday, so Raanta will serve as the backup.
MAY 11, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Remains out Raanta (illness) won't be in the lineup for Game 4 against New Jersey on Tuesday, Walt Ruff of the Hurricanes' official site reports.
Impact Raanta will miss his third straight contest despite returning to practice Monday. He has a 3-2 record this postseason, having allowed 13 goals on 139 shots. Raanta's absence could lead to Frederik Andersen getting the start again Tuesday.
MAY 9, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Back at practice Raanta (illness) participated in Monday's practice, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact It appears as though Raanta, who has missed the past two contests, will be available for Tuesday's Game 4 matchup against New Jersey. Frederik Andersen and Pyotr Kochetkov struggled in Sunday's 8-4 loss to Devils, so Raanta could return to crease Tuesday.
MAY 8, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable Sunday Raanta (illness) won't be in the lineup Sunday for Game 3 against New Jersey, Dan Rosen of NHL.com reports.
Impact Raanta, who is considered day-to-day, also sat out Friday's 6-1 win over the Devils. He has a 3-2 record this postseason with a 2.59 GAA and a .906 save percentage. As a result of Raanta's absence, Pyotr Kotchetkov is projected to suit up as Frederik Andersen's backup again.
MAY 7, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Feeling better Saturday Raanta is feeling better Saturday after missing Game 2 with an illness, Tom Gulitti of NHL.com reports.
Impact Coach Rod Brind'Amour said that Raanta is not feeling great Saturday, but he is feeling better than Friday. Raanta will travel with the team to New Jersey in time for Sunday's Game 3. Raanta will have a tough time getting back the net from Frederik Andersen as Andersen has been sensational in his last three games, giving up only three goals on 81 shots. Raanta is 3-2 in the playoffs, surrendering 13 goals on 139 shots versus the Islanders in the first round.
MAY 6, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Unavailable Friday Raanta (illness) will not suit up for Game 2 against the Devils on Friday.
Impact Raanta hasn't appeared in a contest since Game 5 of last round against the Islanders. Frederik Andersen will make his third straight start while Pyotr Kochetkov serves as the backup.
MAY 5, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Slated to start Tuesday Raanta is expected between the pipes at home in Tuesday's Game 5 clash with the Islanders, Chip Alexander of The Raleigh News & Observer reports.
Impact Raanta has started all four postseason contests in which he posted a 3-1-0 record, 2.46 GAA and .915 save percentage. Even with the return of Frederik Andersen, the 33-year-old Raanta has seemingly cemented himself as the playoff starter. Still, if the Finn stumbles in a few games, he could see himself replaced by the veteran Andersen.
APRIL 25, 2023 • ROTOWIRE
Falls in Game 5 Raanta allowed three goals on 22 shots in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Islanders.
Impact Raanta struggled Tuesday, stopping just 19 of 22 shots, as the Hurricanes failed to clinch a series victory. The 33-year-old netminder is now 3-2-0 with a .906 save percentage in the playoffs. While Raanta has been solid overall in the series, the Hurricanes could turn to Frederik Andersen for Game 6. Rannta went 19-3-3 with a .910 save percentage during the regular season.
