Report: Colts owner Irsay to be allowed to return to work Friday

Suspended Colts owner Jim Irsay will be allowed to return to work Friday after the team's Thursday night game against the Houston Texans, ESPN reports.

Irsay was suspended the first six games of the regular season and fined $500,000 for violating the league's personal conduct policy after he pleaded guilty in September to a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated.

Irsay, who was arrested after a traffic stop in March, admitted to a Hamilton County (Ind.) judge in September that he was driving while under the influence of painkillers in the late hours of March 16 near his home in Carmel, Ind.

"I acknowledge the mistake I made last March and stand responsible for the consequences of that mistake, for which I sincerely apologize to our community and to Colts fans everywhere," Irsay said in a statement in September. "Even more importantly, though, I am committed to do everything in my power to turn this whole experience into a positive event for myself, my family, and the community."
