Moves to NFI list The Saints placed Williams on the non-football injury list Wednesday due to an unspecified "soft-tissue" injury, Larry Holder of The Athletic reports.

Impact General manager Mickey Loomis indicated that Williams isn't expected to face a lengthy absence. The 28-year-old will have a couple weeks to get healthy for the Saints' preseason opener Aug. 14 against the Ravens.

Staying in Big Easy Williams re-signed with the Saints on a one-year contract Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact Williams will return to New Orleans on a deal worth $2.3 million guaranteed. He was a quality rotational player for the Saints last season, and when asked to step into a larger role he performed adequately. As long as he's stuck in a depth role, however, Williams won't be a strong candidate for fantasy relevance in IDP formats.
