INJURIES

Injures ankle, not returning Sunday Sanders won't return to Sunday's road game against the Jets due to an ankle injury.
Impact Sanders was approaching a career high in rushing at the time of his injury in the fourth quarter, when he clutched at his ankle at the end of a third-down catch. He remained down on the Jets' sideline for a few minutes before walking back to the Eagles' bench. After examining him in the blue medical tent, Philly has opted to keep Sanders out for the remainder of the contest, likely due to all the ankle issues he's dealt with this season. With Jordan Howard (knee) inactive Sunday, the team is left with Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell in the backfield.

In clear for Week 13 Sanders (ankle) practiced fully Friday and doesn't have a designation for Sunday's game against the Jets, Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia reports.
Impact Sanders already looked as though he would be in the clear for Sunday after he practiced fully Thursday, but his ability to do take every rep for the second day in a row erased any lingering concern about his health. At this stage, the main concern for the proficiency of the Eagles' ground game is the health of dual-threat quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle), who is listed as questionable after a trio of limited practices this week and appears to be a true game-time decision as Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff approaches. Additionally, the Eagles will be without short-yardage specialist Jordan Howard (knee), while change-of-pace back Boston Scott (illness) is listed as questionable. Rookie Kenny Gainwell looms as the lone healthy depth option behind Sanders, who would likely have access to his largest share of the Eagles' rushing workload of the season if Hurts sits out or is limited Sunday. The presence of Hurts (eight rushing touchdowns) and Howard has been especially damaging to Sanders' red-zone opportunities, as the third-year back has yet to find the end zone through nine games.

Looks good for Week 13 Sanders (ankle) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Impact Even though Sanders' sore ankle hobbled him in the second half of last week's loss to the Giants and rendered him a limited participant in Wednesday's practice, the running back was adamant that he would be ready to go for Sunday's game against the Jets. Sanders' ability to upgrade to full participation in practice supports his optimism, and seemingly makes him one of the healthier members of the Eagles' ground attack. Top backups Boston Scott (illness) and Jordan Howard (knee) are looking iffy for the Week 13 matchup after back-to-back missed practices, while run-oriented quarterback Jalen Hurts (ankle) was listed as a limited participant for the second day in a row. The status of the quarterback in particular bears watching with regard to Sanders' fantasy outlook, and even if Hurts is cleared to start, the Eagles could look to scale back his involvement as a runner with an eye on protecting his ankle. If that's the case, Sanders could finally have a clearer path to the higher-value red-zone touches that have evaded him all season, as he's yet to score a touchdown in nine appearances despite averaging an excellent 5.2 yards per carry.

Practices on limited basis Sanders (ankle) was a limited practice participant Wednesday, while backfield mates Boston Scott (illness) and Jordan Howard (knee) were absent.
Impact Things have quickly turned in Sanders' favor since he sat out the fourth quarter of Sunday's 13-7 loss to the Giants with an ankle injury, though he's still likely to share snaps/carries if he ends up playing this week, given that Scott's reportedly dealing with a non-COVID-19 illness and rookie Kenneth Gainwell remains healthy. The Eagles face the Jets on Sunday, providing a favorable matchup for whichever running backs end up playing and getting touches.

Could be available Week 13 Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni said Monday that Sanders is "heading in the right direction" after suffering an ankle/foot injury in Sunday's 13-7 loss to the Giants, Tim McManus o...
Impact Sanders departed in the second half with the injury, finishing the day with nine carries for 64 yards and one reception for no yards while playing 32 percent of the Eagles' offensive snaps. The Eagles haven't revealed whether Sanders' ankle injury is related to the one that required a three-game stint on injured reserve, but in any case, he appears to be dealing with a less significant concern this time around. Sirianni didn't definitively say that Sanders would be available for the Eagles' Week 13 game against the Jets, however, so the running back's progress will need to be monitored in practices Wednesday through Friday.

Impact It's unclear whether this injury was related to the ankle injury that led to an IR stint for Sanders earlier this season. If Sanders or Jordan Howard (knee) can't play against the Jets in Week 13, Boston Scott and Kenneth Gainwell would lead the Eagles' backfield for that favorable matchup. Clarification on Sanders' status should emerge once the Eagles resume practicing Wednesday.
NOVEMBER 29, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Minimal usage Sanders ran for 64 yards on nine carries against the Giants on Sunday.
Impact Boston Scott saw six more carries than Sanders but generated the same amount of yardage and lost a fumble in the one-score game. One could generously assume the Eagles have some basis for yanking the playing time of their running backs back and forth on a week to week basis, but from afar it's pointless to guess how it could work. Scott was a healthy scratch for the Eagles in the first six weeks of the year, but in this game they decided they needed to feed him and keep Sanders to the side one week after Scott produced 16 yards on six carries and Sanders generated 94 yards on 16 carries. Sanders and the Eagles offense have a great matchup against the Jets in Week 13, and whoever they decide to give the ball in that game will likely do well. Whether it's Sanders, Scott, Kenneth Gainwell, Jordan Howard (knee) or some combination of that group is up to the Eagles coaches to decide, and for the rest of us to guess.

Thrives in return to action Sanders (ankle) rushed 16 times for 94 yards and failed to bring in his only target in the Eagles' 40-29 win over the Eagles on Sunday. He also lost a fumble.
Impact The turnover was a blemish, but Sanders otherwise provided his most encouraging performance of the season under circumstances replete with irony. After receiving plenty of criticism early in the season for Sanders' sparse usage on the ground, head coach Nick Sirianni opted to give the third-year back his heaviest workload of the campaign against a defense that came in ranked as the league's toughest on a yards-per-game basis against the run, and in Sanders' first game back from a three-game absence to boot. Moreover, Sanders then parlayed that opportunity into a season-high tally in rushing yards, certainly giving fantasy managers who stuck with him through his IR stint a welcome surprise. A Week 12 road matchup against the Giants shapes up as his first opportunity to build on what might be a season-changing performance for him.
