That makes Glennon the favorite for the backup job, though the Giants still have time to bring in someone better than Thorson as competition. The team might also consider drafting a QB, as Jones has been subpar through two seasons and could be benched if he struggles again in 2021.

Impact Glennon was able to keep the starting job over Gardner Minshew for the finale, and he put together a very competent effort despite taking six sacks and 11 quarterback hits overall. The veteran was operating without DJ Chark (shin) in the passing game and James Robinson (ankle) in the backfield, but he still was able to connect frequently with Chris Conley and rookie Laviska Shenault for half of his completions and 155 of his yards. Glennon was serviceable at times during the latter portion of the season while logging his most action since the 2014 campaign in Tampa Bay, but he still remains a journeyman at this stage of his career who projects for a backup role again in 2021. Whether that opportunity unfolds in Jacksonville or elsewhere remains to be seen, as Glennon heads into unrestricted free agency this offseason.

Impact Glennon replaced Gardner Minshew as the team's starter Week 16 and wasn't overly impressive in the Jaguars' 41-17 loss to the Bears, completing 24 of 37 attempts for 211 yards, two touchdowns and two interceptions. The lackluster showing prompted Marrone to leave the door open for another quarterback change earlier this week, but after further review, the coach will stick with Glennon for the season finale. With Jacksonville having already locked up the No. 1 overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and expected to select a quarterback, Glennon -- an impending free agent -- will likely just be auditioning for a backup gig with the Jaguars or another team in Week 17.

Impact Glennon has been underwhelming through four appearances this season, boasting just five touchdowns versus five interceptions and 5.9 yards per attempt. Plus, he's coming off a blowout 41-17 loss to the Bears. With the Jaguars now having guaranteed possession of the first overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, the team could opt to turn the reins back over to Minshew, a second-year signal-caller.

As usual, there bad to go along with Glennon's good, as both of his interceptions came in his own territory and led to a total of 10 total points. With the first overall pick in April's draft now guaranteed for the Jaguars by virtue of their loss and the Jets' win over the Browns, it remains to be seen if coach Doug Marrone sticks with Glennon for the Week 17 finale against the Colts.
