Production robust during Week 4 Davis registered 84 rushing yards and one touchdown on 16 carries, also hauling in five of six targets for 27 receiving yards during Sunday's 31-21 win against the Cardinals.
Impact Davis has so far proven to be a worthwhile waiver wire pickup, or a wise RB stash for those Christian McCaffrey-invested GMs who were prudent enough to add the 27-year-old back during the late stages of fantasy drafts. Relieving the injured McCaffrey in Week 2, Davis collected all eight of his targets for 74 yards against the Buccaneers. In his two starts since, Davis has logged 130 rushing yards and a TD on 29 total attempts while also posting 13 receptions for 72 yards and an additional TD. Week 5 brings a matchup against a Falcons defense that entered Sunday ranking as a top-10 unit with just 3.6 yards per carry allowed to opposing backs.

Scores on 21 touches Davis carried 13 times for 46 yards while catching eight of nine targets for 45 additional yards and a touchdown during Sunday's 21-16 win over the Chargers.
Impact Davis struggled to the tune of 3.5 yards per carry but made up for it by leading the team in receptions and targets. He also scored a beautiful 13-yard receiving touchdown in which he weaved through multiple defenders en route to the end zone. Davis assumed a large share of the backfield touches in the absence of Christian McCaffrey (ankle), and although his production won't mirror that of his teammate, he proved he can contribute respectably in that role. He will have another shot to do so next Sunday against the Cardinals.

Slated to start Sunday Davis will be the Panthers' starting running back for Sunday's road game versus the Chargers, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Impact As expected, Davis is getting the first chance to operate in place of Christian McCaffrey as the latter tends to a high right ankle sprain. Meanwhile, the Panthers kept reserve RB Trenton Cannon inactive Sunday, leaving Reggie Bonnafon as the sole competition for Davis. While taking a 33-percent share of the offensive snaps last Sunday in Tampa Bay, Davis recorded a one-yard carry while gathering in all eight targets for 74 yards.

Looks like Week 3 starter Davis appears set to start Sunday's game against the Chargers following the placement of Christian McCaffrey (ankle) on IR, ESPN.com reports.
Impact Davis only had one carry against the Buccaneers in Week 2, but he did make some explosive plays in the passing game while catching all eight of his targets for 74 yards. The veteran journeyman won't slot into the 95-plus percent of snaps role that McCaffrey held, so Trenton Cannon, Curtis Samuel and Reggie Bonnafon (practice squad) could also see increased carries versus Los Angeles, but Davis looks like the clear favorite to lead Carolina's backfield. How well Davis fares against the Chargers' formidable defensive front could play a role in determining whether he keeps the starting gig for the entire duration of McCaffrey's expected 4-to-6 week IR stint.

Rises up depth chart Davis is slated to handle increased work out of the backfield with Christian McCaffrey expected to miss 4-to-6 weeks due to a high-ankle sprain, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Davis has the confidence of coach Matt Rhule, who called him "a threat coming out of the backfield" after the conclusion of Sunday's contest. Davis impressed as a receiver versus Tampa Bay, when he secured all eight targets for 74 yards, which bodes well for his prospects of at least partially filling the void left by an every-down player like McCaffrey. The 27-year-old has 10 career starts under his belt, and he looks like the favorite to start against the Chargers in Week 3, but Curtis Samuel, Trenton Cannon and Reggie Bonnafon (practice squad) could all also mix in for carries.

Shines as receiver in loss Davis rushed once for one yard but brought in all eight targets for 74 yards in the Panthers' 31-17 loss to the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Impact A complete non-factor despite active status in a Week 1 loss to the Raiders, Davis surprisingly found himself with a robust pass-catching role Sunday. The journeyman back has displayed solid receiving ability out of the backfield in the past, but naturally, that's typically Christian McCaffrey's domain in Carolina. McCaffrey did exit Sunday's game late with an ankle injury, but a good chunk of Davis' strong production came prior to his star teammate's exit. With the All-Pro running back now scheduled for an MRI on his ankle Monday, it's possible Davis gets vaulted to the top running back spot in a Week 3 road matchup versus the Chargers.
