Finds end zone in debut Shenault recorded three receptions on four targets for 37 yards and a touchdown in Week 1 against the Colts. He also added two rush attempts for 10 yards.

Impact Shenault recorded the first touchdown of his career late in the second quarter as he cut across the middle of the field for a 15-yard score. Reports suggested the Jaguars would look for creative ways to involve Shanault and that was the case as he was utilized as both a rusher and receiver. Shenault will look to remain involved in Week 2 against the Titans.

Impact Shenault dealt with minor injuries during training camp, but he'll officially begin his rookie season at full health. The rookie second-round pick should face immediate opportunity for snaps, as behind top wideout DJ Chark, the Jaguars have no clearly established No. 2 option. Shenault stands to begin the 2020 campaign competing with the likes of Chris Conley, Keelan Cole and Dede Westbrook for work behind Chark, and he could even have a chance to take some snaps out of the backfield following the departure of Leonard Fournette.

The Jaguars have five viable candidates for WR snaps Week 1, with only Chark appearing locked in for a full-time role. Shenault thus seems most likely to start his career as a part-time player, but reports from training camp suggest he could eventually emerge from the pack, with Reid noting that the rookie is acclimating quickly while showing an ability to play both outside and in the slot. Quarterback Gardner Minshew said he already knew Shenault was an athletic freak but has been pleasantly surprised with the second-round pick's reliable hands and route running. Apart from Chark, it's the rookie who offers real upside in the Jacksonville receiving corps, more so than Conley, Westbrook or Cole.

Impact As Marrone acknowledges, a multi-faceted role wouldn't be anything new for Shenault, who lined up out wide, in the slot, at tight end and in the backfield during his three-year career at Colorado. The Jaguars' depth chart at receiver is somewhat unsettled beyond top option DJ Chark, so Shenault could parlay a solid showing in training camp and the preseason into a regular spot in three-receiver formations. Even if all of Chark, Dede Westbrook and Chris Conley enter the season ahead of him in the pecking order, Shenault's versatility could allow him to find reps in the backfield, as Jacksonville lacks an experienced change-of-pace option behind Leonard Fournette beyond the historically injury prone Chris Thompson. As a junior at Colorado in 2019, Shenault did most of his damage as a pass catcher (56 receptions for 764 yards and four touchdowns), though he was effective as a ball carrier (23 totes for 161 yards and two touchdowns) when his number was called.
