Steps up after Freeman injury Murray rushed 16 times for 150 yards and a touchdown in the Ravens' 16-13 overtime loss to the Steelers on Sunday.
Impact Devonta Freeman was sidelined with a ribs injury after just five carries, paving the way for Murray to carry the backfield load. The veteran back responded admirably, even ripping off a season-long 46-yard touchdown run that snapped a 3-3 tie. Murray had seen his carries rise back to 11 in Week 17 against the Rams, but Sunday's performance served as a reminder of his ability to still perform effectively with an expanded workload, albeit against a weak run defense. Nevertheless, Murray does turn 32 later in January and is headed into unrestricted free agency, so his likeliest role in 2022 will be as a complementary back once again.

Sees workload uptick Murray had 11 carries for 31 yards against the Rams in Week 17.
Impact Though the uptick in volume was an improvement, Murray still struggled to turn the increased opportunities into production, as he was held under 3.0 yards per carry yet again. Murray has gone over the 30-yard mark three times in his last seven games, and his highest total in that stretch was 48 against Green Bay. The veteran has just one rushing touchdown since Week 6. Murray and the Ravens finish the regular season Sunday against the Steelers.

Minimal impact again Murray had five carries for 12 yards and caught one pass for 12 yards Sunday against the Bengals.
Impact Murray's snap count dipped below 20 for the third time in four games, and his effectiveness dropped back down as well, as he averaged 2.4 yards per carry. Murray has seen five-or-fewer carries in three of his last four games and has broken the 20-yard mark just once in that stretch. The Ravens host the Rams in Week 17.

Close games now swinging against slumping Ravens

It has been a season of razor-thin finishes for the Baltimore Ravens and those sure have evened out recently
DECEMBER 20, 2021 • Associated Press
Does well Sunday Murray rushed seven times for 48 yards and caught one of three targets for three yards in Sunday's 31-30 loss to the Packers.
Impact Murray garnered just three carries in his last two games prior to Sunday, but with Devonta Freeman going for just 22 yards on his six totes versus the Packers, Murray capitalized when called upon. Although both players were still outgained by fill-in quarterback Tyler Huntley, who rushed 13 times for 73 yards and two touchdowns, Murray will hope his good showing Sunday translates into more work in Week 16 versus the Bengals.

Scores on lone carry Murray had one carry for a one-yard touchdown Sunday against the Browns and did not draw any targets.
Impact The veteran's usage decreased despite seeing a slight uptick in snaps (18 compared to 14 in Week 13). Murray made the most of his opportunity, punching in a touchdown to pull the Ravens closer to a near comeback. He has just three total carries in the last two weeks after combining for 18 in his first two games back from injury. His lack of consistent work out of the backfield makes him difficult to roster in most leagues, especially with Devonta Freeman now seeing the bulk of the backfield work.

Makes impact in passing game Murray had two carries for one yard and caught both of his targets for 34 yards against the Steelers.
Impact Murray's snap count dropped from 35 in Week 12 to 14 in Sunday's game. He didn't get enough carries to get into a rhythm, as Devonta Freeman and Lamar Jackson took on the bulk of the rushing work. Murray was effective with his targets, however. Freeman remains Baltimore's lead back heading into Sunday's game against the Browns.

Bottled up by Browns Murray had eight carries for 14 yards in the win over the Browns.
Impact Though Murray's volume stayed in line with what he saw in his return against Chicago, his effectiveness was limited. The Browns bottled up Murray to the tune of 1.8 yards per carry, and his longest rush was good for four yards. Baltimore, as a team, averaged a meager 3.4 yards per carry, so Murray wasn't the only Raven who had trouble finding traction Sunday. Still, it's telling that Devonta Freeman doubled Murray's carry count and appears to be the lead back for the Ravens heading into Week 13 against the Steelers.

Logs 10 carries in return Murray (ankle) rushed 10 times for 32 yards and brought in both targets for one yard in the Ravens' 16-13 win over the Bears on Sunday.
Impact Murray's return from a three-game absence was relatively uneventful, and he notably logged six fewer carries than backfield mate Devonta Freeman. It was also Freeman on the field for the Ravens' game-winning drive during which he scored the go-ahead touchdown from three yards out with 22 seconds remaining. With Freeman playing well over the last few games, it's likely Murray remains a complementary option for a Week 12 divisional battle against the Browns.
NOVEMBER 22, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Suits up Sunday Murray (ankle) is listed as active for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Impact Murray, who last suited up in Week 6, will rejoin the Ravens' backfield Sunday and in doing so figures to work in a time-share with Devonta Freeman, with Ty'Son Williams on hand in reserve. It's a context that makes Murray a hit-or-miss Week 11 fantasy lineup option, while coming off a three-game absence, though with Lamar Jackson (illness) unavailable Sunday and Tyler Huntley slated to draw the start at QB for the Ravens, a run-heavy approach could be on tap for the team.

Latavius Murray expected to play vs. Bears Latavius Murray is expected to return from an ankle injury to face the Bears in Week 11.
NOVEMBER 21, 2021 • NESN.COM
Expected to play Sunday Murray (ankle), who is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears, is expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Impact The Ravens will release their inactive list 90 minutes prior to Sunday's 1 p.m. ET kickoff, at which point Murray's availability should be confirmed. Before spraining his left ankle Week 6 and missing the team's last three games, Murray had been serving as the Ravens' lead back. After his absence, however, Murray may find himself in a timeshare with Devonta Freeman.
