Announces retirement Murray announced his retirement from the NFL on Thursday, Chad Jensen of SI.com reports.

Impact Murray, now 35 years old, suited up for 11 seasons in the NFL between the Raiders, Vikings, Saints, Ravens, Broncos and Bills, earning a Pro Bowl nod in 2015. While he surpassed the 1,000 rushing yard mark just once in his career, in 2015 with the Raiders, Murray was a stalwart contributor in terms of consistency, ranking above the 4.0 YPC threshold in nine of his 11 campaigns played. As Jensen notes, Murray remains the most recent running back to rush for 100 yards in a single game for Denver, which he accomplished versus the Chargers in the 2022 regular-season finale.

Shrinking role Murray had one carry for zero yards and failed to reel in his only target during Sunday's 27-21 win over the Patriots.

Impact Murray has just the one carry over the past two games and hasn't exceeded 32 percent of the offensive snaps in any of the past four games. With James Cook thriving in the bell cow role and quarterback Josh Allen tied for second in the league with 15 rushing touchdowns, it's only scraps left for Murray and Ty Johnson, and now Leonard Fournette is even an option. All of this makes Murray a role player, not a fantasy target.

Impact Murray continued his role as the Bills' No. 2 running back behind James Cook, playing 32 percent of Buffalo's offensive snaps Sunday. While Cook played the most snaps (34) of any running back and handled the most touches (15), Murray was used sparingly in relief of his teammate. The 33-year-old's limited opportunities put a cap on his ability to produce consistently in Buffalo's offense. Murray will be an untrustworthy option for fantasy purposes when Bills host the Cowboys in Week 15.

Impact Murray played 24 of the Bills' 76 offensive plays Sunday, behind James Cook (35) and ahead of Ty Johnson (16). Despite seeing 10 touches, the veteran running back was unable to get much going in the contest. Meanwhile, both Cook and Johnson were able to find the end zone through the air. It's possible that Johnson could continue to see his role grow in Buffalo's offense, which would further limit Murray's upside as the team's No. 2 back. Nonetheless, the 33-year-old will look to hang on as the team's top backup when the Bills visit the Eagles in Week 12.

Impact Murray actually had two good cracks to score a touchdown, but he was stopped both times inside the five-yard line and his night ended as a fantasy dud. Murray has seen a slight rise in carries following a neck injury to teammate Damien Harris (neck), as he's had three of his season's top four offensive snap shares in the last three games. With the Bills having so many weapons on offense, the 33-year-old Murray remains mostly a touchdown-dependent option, and he hasn't found the end zone since Week 3.
