GAME LOG

INJURIES

Totals 75 yards Raymond caught five of six targets for 75 yards during Sunday's 24-6 loss to the Cowboys.
Impact With DJ Chark (absence) sidelined, the second-quarter injury to Amon-Ra St. Brown (concussion) effectively threw Raymond into the No. 2 wideout role behind Josh Reynolds. Raymond not only delivered from a receiving standpoint, but he also threw a memorable block at one point as well. With Chark set to miss to miss at least the next three games and Jameson Williams (knee) still on the NFI list, Raymond could again play a significant role on offense depending on whether St. Brown can clear concussion protocol in time for next Sunday's matchup with Miami.

Lions hoping healthy running game can help salvage season

The Detroit Lions are 1-4 with one of the worst defenses in the league and Jared Goff is too mistake-prone to save them
OCTOBER 13, 2022 • Associated Press
Snags five passes Raymond caught five of seven targets for 45 yards during Sunday's 29-0 loss to New England.
Impact Despite Amon-Ra St. Brown returning for this game, the absences of DJ Chark (ankle) and Quintez Cephus (foot) allowed Raymond to easily log a new season high in snaps. While this allowed the wideout to put together a modestly productive fantasy outing in PPR contexts, the 5-foot-8 Raymond didn't really do any real damage to a Patriots defense that largely kept the Lions in their own territory for most of the game. With Chark possibly returning after Detroit's Week 6 bye, Raymond could easily return to seeing low offensive snap counts in Week 7 against Dallas.
OCTOBER 10, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Heightened offensive role Raymond caught three of five targets for 38 yards during Sunday's 48-45 loss to the Seahawks.
Impact Raymond saw a jump in playing time with both Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) and DJ Chark (ankle) out of commission. However, he didn't play much of a role in this high-scoring affair despite seeing a handful of opportunities. Raymond could easily return to seeing single-digit offensive snaps if St. Brown or Chark are able to make it back for Detroit's Week 5 game in New England.
OCTOBER 4, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
First catch of year Raymond secured his only target for four yards during Sunday's 28-24 loss to the Vikings.
Impact Raymond yet again operated as the clear No. 4 receiver. While he could become a bigger part of the passing game if Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) or D'Andre Swift (shoulder/ankle) need to miss time, Raymond would remain unlikely to see enough volume to be a considerable fantasy option.
SEPTEMBER 26, 2022 • ROTOWIRE
Brief preseason appearance Raymond caught two of three targets for 10 yards during Saturday's preseason win over Indianapolis.
Impact After catching a bomb from Tim Boyle in the preseason opener, Raymond saw a little bit of action in the first quarter this week. Given how quickly it took for his day to be done, Raymond seems like the clear No. 4 receiver for the Lions behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, DJ Chark and Josh Reynolds. While Jameson Williams (knee) will be in the fold before long and Quintez Cephus (leg) could make a case for a roster spot in the preseason finale, Raymond seems ticketed for another year in Detroit, where he likely will handle punt-return duties in addition to his rotational role at wideout.

Sticking with Detroit Raymond is re-signing with the Lions, Mike Garafolo of NFL Network reports.
Impact Raymond is a 27-year-old journeyman who made 14 starts for Detroit last season and finished with career highs across the board (48-576-4 on 71 targets). He'll be back with the Lions, but there's significant danger of slipping down the depth chart, especially after the team reached an agreement earlier Tuesday with former Jags wideout D.J. Chark. Prior to that, the Lions signed Josh Reynolds to a two-year extension, giving them another experienced option behind Chark and second-year receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown.

Lions looking for help at WR, DB and LB in NFL free agency

MARCH 10, 2022 • Associated Press
Scores on trick play Raymond caught four passes for 101 yards and one touchdown on five targets against Green Bay on Sunday.
Impact Raymond's box score was mostly propelled by a 75-yard touchdown on a trick play from wideout Tom Kennedy, but Raymond's speed is part of why that play worked as well as it did, and more importantly the game rounds out what has quietly been a commendable season by the journeyman wideout. While he might see less playing time in 2022 even if he re-signs with the Lions, Raymond deserves credit for catching 48 receptions for 576 yards and four touchdowns on 71 targets (67.6 percent catch rate, 8.1 yards per target) despite dealing with shaky quarterback play. Even if he's more of a backup than a starter in 2022, Raymond arguably earned some benefit of the doubt if he ends up stepping into a starting role for whatever reason.

JANUARY 5, 2022 • DETROITLIONS.COM
Returns from COVID list Raymond (illness) was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Tuesday, Justin Rogers of The Detroit News reports.
Impact Raymond missed Sunday's loss to the Seahawks after being placed on the COVID-19 list last week, but he's now back on the active roster ahead of the season finale. The 27-year-old has 44 receptions for 475 yards and three touchdowns this season, and he should work as Detroit's No. 3 wide receiver this weekend against the Packers behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Josh Reynolds.

Impact Raymond was placed on the list Thursday after testing positive for the virus, so he never seemed likely to test out of the NFL's COVID-19 protocol prior to Sunday's contest. With Josh Reynolds (illness) also sidelined Week 17 after testing positive for the virus Monday, the Lions won't have much in the way of established depth behind No. 1 wideout Amon-Ra St. Brown. The Lions' remaining four available receivers -- KhaDarel Hodge, Trinity Benson, Tom Kennedy and Javon McKinley -- have combined for 20 catches for 191 yards during their NFL careers.
