INJURIES

No practice McKissic (concussion) did some work on a side field Wednesday but didn't take part in practice, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact McKissic was injured in a Week 12 win over Seattle last Monday and didn't practice at all Week 13 ahead of his absence in Washington's victory over the Raiders. His ability to work on the side suggests he's at least starting to progress through the concussion protocol, but it isn't yet clear if he'll be back for Sunday's matchup with the Cowboys. If not, Washington could again use the combination of Antonio Gibson and Wendell Smallwood on passing downs, though the team did add another back (Jonathan Williams) to the roster Wednesday.

Out with concussion McKissic (concussion) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact McKissic hasn't practiced since suffering the injury in Monday's 17-15 win over the Seahawks. His absence leaves passing-down snaps in the hands of either starter Antonio Gibson, rookie Jaret Patterson or practice-squad player Wendell Smallwood. It could be a mix of the two, or perhaps even all three.

Still not practicing McKissic (concussion) wasn't seen during the portion of Friday's practice that's open to the media, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact McKissic appears headed toward his third straight DNP after suffering the concussion Monday against the Seahawks. The 28-year-old will need to fully clear the concussion protocol before being able to participate in full contact work, which is unlikely to happen ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Raiders.

Missing from practice McKissic (concussion) won't participate in Thursday's practice, JP Finlay of NBC Sports Washington reports.
Impact The fact that McKissic isn't practicing even on a limited basis for the second straight day suggests he hasn't yet made much progress through the NFL's concussion protocol, which he entered after suffering a head/neck injury in Washington's 17-15 win over the Seahawks on Monday. Unless McKissic takes a significant step forward in his recovery and returns to practice Friday, he'll likely be ruled out ahead of this Sunday's game in Las Vegas. If that's the case, Wendell Smallwood could be elevated from the practice squad to provide a pass-catching option out of the backfield behind Antonio Gibson (shin) and Jaret Patterson. Washington could also simply turn to Gibson to handle more passing-down work, after he nabbed a season-high seven receptions in Week 12.

Surging Washington seeks 4th straight win vs. Raiders

Washington has won three straight games to get into playoff position in the NFC headed into this week's visit to Las Vegas
DECEMBER 2, 2021 • Associated Press
In concussion protocol McKissic didn't practice Wednesday due to a concussion.
Impact McKissic suffered a scare in Monday's game after his helmet hit off a Seahawks defender, causing him to stay on the turf for multiple minutes. He required a cart to get to the locker room, and it was reported after the game that he was tending to a neck injury. But upon the release of Washington's first Week 13 practice report, McKissic was revealed to be in the concussion protocol. Clearly in the early phases due to his lack of activity Wednesday, he likely will need to get on the practice field by Friday to give himself a chance to be available Sunday at Las Vegas. If McKissic is unable to do so, Jaret Patterson and practice squad member Wendell Smallwood would be the candidates to work behind starter Antonio Gibson (shin).

Not at practice McKissic (neck) isn't practicing Wednesday, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact The pass-catching back scored both of Washington's touchdowns in a 17-15 win over Seattle on Monday before suffering a scary-looking head/neck injury in the fourth quarter. With Antonio Gibson and rookie Jaret Patterson being the only other running backs on Washington's roster, practice-squadder Wendell Smallwood could handle backfield snaps in obvious passing situations if McKissic is unavailable Sunday in Las Vegas.

Diagnosed with neck injury McKissic suffered a neck injury in Monday's 17-15 win over the Seahawks, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact McKissic hit his head on a defender in the fourth quarter and remained down on the field for several minutes after the collision. He ultimately was carted off the field, though the team doesn't yet know the severity of the injury. Optimistically, teammates said that McKissic was walking around the locker room after the game. More clarification on his status should come as the week progresses.

Carted off against Seattle McKissic was carted off the field after suffering an apparent head injury in Monday's game against Seattle, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact McKissic appeared to hit his head off a defender in the fourth quarter of the game, and he remained down on the field for several minutes after the collision. Prior to his exit, he recorded seven carries for 30 yards and a touchdown and also added five receptions for 26 yards and an additional score. After the game, coach Ron Rivera stated that he did not have an update on McKissic's status, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. Given that, it's unclear whether McKissic may be ready to suit up for a Week 13 matchup against the Raiders.

Ready for Monday McKissic (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Monday's game versus the Seahawks, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact McKissic was limited at practice this week due to the ankle issue, but he'll be ready to go for Monday's contest. The 28-year-old should continue to operate as the primary pass-catching option out of the backfield for Washington.
NOVEMBER 27, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Limited at practice McKissic (ankle) remained limited Friday at practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.
Impact The same goes for fellow RB Antonio Gibson, though in his case the LP tags have been the norm for a while now as he continues to play through a stress fracture in his shin. McKissic, on the other hand, has mostly been healthy this season, and his ability to practice Thursday and Friday -- even on a limited basis -- suggests he has a good chance to play Monday night against the Seahawks.
NOVEMBER 26, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Dealing with ankle issue McKissic (ankle) is listed as limited on Thursday's practice report.
Impact As was Antonio Gibson, who continues to have practice limitations due to a stress fracture in his shin. Gibson hasn't missed any game action due to the injury this season, which has relegated McKissic to a secondary role out of Washington's backfield. Behind Gibson's 17.3 touches per game, McKissic has averaged 7.9 touches for 55.3 total yards per game while scoring two TDs in 10 appearances.
NOVEMBER 25, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Gets eight touches McKissic rushed seven times for 46 yards and caught one of two targets for four yards in Sunday's 27-21 win over the Panthers.
Impact McKissic ripped off a long run of 15 yards, fueling an overall efficient day on the ground by his standards. In fact, McKissic's rushing-yardage total marked his highest of the season, helping compensate for his unusually low involvement through the air. Coming off Sunday's win, McKissic will now turn his attention toward Week 12's matchup versus the Seahawks.
NOVEMBER 21, 2021 • ROTOWIRE
Garners 39 total yards in win McKissic rushed two times for four yards and secured all four targets for 35 yards in Washington's 29-19 win over the Buccaneers on Sunday.
Impact Washington often finds itself in game scripts that result in McKissic seeing plenty of work in the passing game during the second half, but that surprisingly wasn't the case Sunday. With his team in the lead throughout, McKissic logged a modest amount of targets by his standards but still checked in second on the club in receptions. The veteran back has at least four catches in four straight games and is likely to remain similarly involved in a Week 11 road trip to Carolina to face the Panthers.

Leading receiver in loss McKissic carried the ball three times for 10 yards and caught all eight of his targets for 83 yards in Sunday's 17-10 loss to the Broncos.
Impact Washington split its backfield workload evenly between McKissic, Antonio Gibson and Jaret Patterson, but McKissic was by far the most effective option and led the club in catches and receiving yards. The 28-year-old heads into a Week 9 bye with 20 receptions on 24 targets for 182 yards over the last three games in addition to 77 rushing yards.
