Secures 11 touches McKissic ran for 40 yards on eight carries and caught three passes for 16 yards on four targets against Dallas on Sunday.

Impact McKissic's rushing total was propelled by a 33-yard carry -- his first carry to go over 17 yards in his Washington career, and thus a clear fluke -- and he had just seven yards on his other seven carries. McKissic's usage doesn't appear up for negotiation in the Washington offense despite the emptiness of the production, so he should keep seeing usage like this regardless of the effect.

Ineffective on checkdown targets McKissic ran for eight yards on three carries and caught six passes for 32 yards on nine targets against Philadelphia on Sunday.

Impact Washington has seemingly prioritized McKissic's pass-catching usage the last two weeks, funneling 16 targets his way and yielding 13 receptions for 86 yards. The surge in checkdown targets has coincided with Washington losing their last two games, but the targets should keep coming as long as offensive coordinator Scott Turner continues to prioritize the usage.

Catches seven passes McKissic took three carries for nine yards and caught each of his seven targets for 54 yards in Sunday's 36-27 loss to the Lions.

Impact McKissic played 46 percent of Washington's offensive snaps, up a tick from Week 1 (40 percent) when he got only three carries and three targets. He had a decent PPR showing Sunday, but McKissic actually has two fewer targets than Antonio Gibson so far this season, with his 10 accounting for only 11.8 percent of the team total. McKissic should be good for around 5-10 touches in a Week 3 home game against the Eagles.

Impact Though he's ostensibly Washington's passing-down back, McKissic saw five fewer targets than fellow running back Antonio Gibson's eight (a career-high total). McKissic re-signed with Washington this offseason after his deal with the Bills fell through, but the Commanders may now look to make a more concerted effort to get Gibson involved as a receiver. McKissic averaged 6.9 targets per game in 2020 and 4.8 in 2021, but if Gibson eats into his volume this season, fantasy relevance may prove difficult to attain.

The fact that McKissic is dealing with such an injury could lead to his being held out of Saturday's preseason contest against the Chiefs, though, even if as a precaution. This preseason has seen rookie third-round pick Brian Robinson begin to make a case for increased opportunities in Washington's backfield, and presumed No. 1 option Antonio Gibson logged an unusual practice session Wednesday that saw him handle reps with the special-teams unit.

Impact According to the report, the contract terms McKissic is receiving from Washington is similar or identical to the two-year, $7 million verbal agreement he had with the Bills. The veteran receiving back might have benefited in fantasy terms from playing in a better offense, but he'll still be an important piece for Washington, replacing Antonio Gibson on third downs and in other obvious passing situations. McKissic saw a big drop in usage between 2020 and 2021, albeit with better efficiency to help negate some of the losses.
