McKissic and Gibson both were on the field for the first snap of the game, and it was a pretty even three-way split throughout the afternoon. Look for more of the same Week 2 at Arizona, though it is possible McKissic could eventually have his role scaled back if he struggles through more performances like Sunday's.

Impact It was interesting to see McKissic listed in the top spot, but Rivera essentially confirms that it doesn't actually mean much. Depth charts typically are produced by PR departments, and in Washington's case there was no obvious order for the running backs. Reports from beat writers suggest McKissic, Antonio Gibson and Peyton Barber will all have roles Sunday against the Eagles, while Bryce Love is a wild card to potentially make it a four-man committee instead of three. McKissic figures to see most of his snaps in passing situations.

Listed atop depth chart Washington listed McKissic as its No. 1 running back on the unofficial depth chart the team released Tuesday, Kyle Stackpole of Washington's official site reports.
Impact Though McKissic sits atop the depth chart, his presence there shouldn't be viewed as confirmation that he'll start or receive the majority of the snaps and touches out of the backfield in Sunday's season opener versus the Eagles. Instead, Stackpole speculates that Washington will make use of all four of its running backs in Week 1, with multiple backs occasionally sharing the field together. Third-round rookie Antonio Gibson likely has the most three-down potential of the four backs, as McKissic has been used as a pass-catching specialist for most of his career, while Peyton Barber and Bryce Love are best suited for work on running downs.

Moving up depth chart With Washington cutting Adrian Peterson on Friday, McKissic could be the No. 2 running back, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.
Impact Washington has cut both Derrius Guice and Adrian Peterson this offseason, and while Antonio Gibson is presumed to be the main beneficiary, he's a rookie with no preseason experience. On the other hand, McKissic has a proven, unique skillset, and last season he rushed 38 times for 205 yards (5.4 yards per carry) and caught 34 of 42 targets for 233 yards and a touchdown for the Lions. McKissic (5-10, 195) doesn't have the frame to be a three-down workhorse, but he projects as an intriguing change-of-pace back in 2020. If Gibson takes off, however, McKissic could fade into a battle with Peyton Barber and Bryce Love for the remaining backfield reps.

Of course, Finlay also mentioned McKissic's struggles at the position in the same tweet, so it's likely just an interesting footnote for a team still trying to figure out it's optimal pass-catching rotation. Regardless of the positional designation, McKissic still figures to hold a roster spot as the team continues to develop multi-talented Antonio Gibson to eventually usurp the career backup at some point in 2020.

Impact A pure passing-down specialist, McKissic has 91 targets and 88 carries in 35 career NFL appearances, though he did manage 5.4 YPC on his 38 totes for Detroit last year. A $1 million guarantee on his two-year contract suggests the 27-year-old should have a spot on the regular-season roster, but his role has come into question ever since Washington used a third-round pick on runner/receiver hybrid Antonio Gibson. The rookie could steal passing downs from McKissic at some point this year.
