Matt Gay - Ready for Week 3
Gay (quadriceps) doesn't have a designation for Sunday's contest against the Bears.
Impact
After sitting out Week 1 due to still being in recovery mode from sports hernia surgery, Gay made his season debut this past Sunday in Green Bay, making his only point-after try but just one of two field-goal attempts. He then sat out Wednesday's practice with a quad injury, only to cap the week with back-to-back full sessions. Gay thus is set to play versus a Chicago team that sits in a tie for sixth in the NFL in terms of points against at 18.0 per game.

Josh Downs - Cleared to play vs. Bears
Downs (ankle) doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Impact
Downs participated without limitations in all three of Indianapolis' practices this week, setting the stage for the wide receiver to make his season debut. Michael Pittman (back/calf) is questionable, but Downs' return could lead to decreased playing time for rookie Adonai Mitchell, as Alec Pierce has probably cemented his spot in three-receiver sets with 181 receiving yards and two touchdowns through two games. Downs finished second to Pittman (1,152) with 771 receiving yards last season.

Michael Pittman Jr. - Questionable for Week 3
Pittman (back/calf) is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Bears.
Impact
The Colts tacked on Pittman to their final Week 3 practice report with back and calf injuries, which kept him out of drills Friday. Still, coach Shane Steichen told Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star that Pittman should be able to play Sunday, something that'll be confirmed about 90 minutes before a 1:00 p.m. ET kickoff. Assuming he's active, Pittman will be welcoming back fellow wide receiver Josh Downs (ankle) to the lineup. which may eat into the former's target share from quarterback Anthony Richardson.

Michael Pittman Jr. - Not practicing Friday
Pittman (undisclosed) isn't participating in Friday's practice, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Per, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star, Pittman -- who practiced fully Wednesday and Thursday -- was present for Friday's session. There's a chance that the Colts are giving the wideout a rest day, with further context regarding his Week 3 status set to arrive once the team's injury report is posted.

Matt Gay - Should be good to go Sunday
Gay (quadriceps) was a full participant during practice Thursday, Nate Atkins of The Indianapolis Star reports.
Impact
Gay didn't take the field Wednesday, so his jump to a full session Thursday is an encouraging sign that suggests he'll be handling kicking duties for the Colts on Sunday when they host the Bears.

Matt Gay - Kicking at Thursday's practice
Gay (quadriceps) is handling kicking duties at practice Thursday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Gay couldn't practice Wednesday, so it's encouraging to see him back on the field Thursday. The veteran kicker missed Week 1 due to offseason sports hernia surgery and is now nursing a new quad issue, but he looks to be making good progress ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Bears. The Colts also have kicker Spencer Shrader on the practice squad.

Julian Blackmon - Does practice in full
Blackmon (shoulder) was a full participant during practice Wednesday.
Impact
It was previously reported by James Boyd of The Athletic that the Utah product was on the field Wednesday, but not his level of participation. His ability to get in a full practice suggests the safety should be good to go Sunday against the Bears.

Matt Gay - Unable to practice Wednesday
Gay (quadriceps) did not practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Gay is dealing with a new quad injury after having missed Week 1 while recovering from sports hernia surgery. The veteran missed a field-goal attempt wide left from 50 yards during Indianapolis' loss to Green Bay, though he converted his only other attempt from 34 yards out, plus his lone extra-point try. Gay will have two more chances to improve his practice level ahead of Sunday's game against the Bears.

Josh Downs - Practices in full, poised to play
Downs (ankle) practiced in full Wednesday and appears set to suit up Sunday versus Chicago.
Impact
Downs said Wednesday morning he intends to make his 2024 debut versus the Bears, and his ability to handle a full assortment of practice reps acts as convincing confirmation of that plan. The 2023 third-round pick had been sidelined due to a high-ankle sprain since early August, but he was close to returning Week 2. Now, Downs will work in with Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell in a Colts wide receiver corps led by Michael Pittman.

Julian Blackmon - Returns to field
Blackmon (shoulder) is practicing Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Blackmon was unable to practice last week before missing their Week 2 loss to the Packers. His return to the field Wednesday should be good news for the Utah product and put him on a trajectory to take the field this Sunday against the Bears. However, it's not yet clear if Blackmon was limited or a full participant for the session, which will keep him iffy for Week 3 for now.

Laiatu Latu - Stays sidelined
Latu (hip) will not practice Wednesday, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Latu suffered the injury in last Sunday's loss to the Packers, but it wasn't expected to be anything serious. His absence from practice Wednesday doesn't necessarily change that, but it's possible he may not be ready to return in Week 3. Better clarity on his chances of playing this Sunday against the Bears should come Thursday or Friday.

Josh Downs - Plans to play vs. Chicago
Downs (ankle) said Wednesday he intends to suit up for Sunday's game against the Bears, James Boyd of The Athletic reports.
Impact
Downs appears to be nearly recovered from the right high-ankle sprain he sustained Aug. 7. He was reportedly viewed as a 50-50 decision to play Week 2 against the Packers, but was ultimately made inactive. The 2023 third-round pick resumed practicing in full prior to being ruled out versus Green Bay, so he could be ready to immediately handle his usual assortment of reps alongside Alec Pierce and Adonai Mitchell, while working behind top wide receiver Michael Pittman.
