Chargers' Herbert faces new challenges with short week

Quarterback Justin Herbert makes his Thursday night debut when the Los Angeles Chargers travel to Las Vegas to face the Raiders

Season high in receptions Parham caught two of his four targets for 21 yards in Sunday's 45-0 loss against the Patriots.

Impact Parham did see a season-high in receptions (two), targets (four), yards (21) and snaps (19), but it's a byproduct of the Patriots taking away most of the Chargers' offensive options. The 23-year-old will likely revert back to his minimal role as the Chargers take on the Falcons next week whose weak defense to tight ends will allow for Hunter Henry to see more opportunities.

Impact The 23-year-old tight end failed to catch a pass for the third time in four games. Parham has enjoyed some success this year with two of his three receptions happening in the end zone. However, his upside is severely capped as the No. 2 option behind Hunter Henry.

Impact Parham's most memorable target came on the game's final play when quarterback Justin Herbert attempted to hit the 6-foot-8 tight end on a game-winning fade toward the upper right corner of the end zone only for the pass to be ruled incomplete upon review. Virgil Green (ankle) remains on IR, which gives Parham the opportunity to contribute more to the Chargers' offense, but it's hard to expect much from the big-bodied target. The tight end played a mere nine snaps Sunday and will most likely play a similar role so long as Hunter Henry remains healthy.

Impact Parham played a paltry 10 offensive snaps in the absence of Virgil Green (ankle) who was placed on IR. Not surprisingly, the former XFL standout wasn't able to replicate his one-touchdown performance from last week and hardly figures to be an attractive fantasy asset so long as Hunter Henry (84 snaps Sunday) remains healthy.

Impact Justin Herbert targeted the tight end for a 22-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter accounting for his first and only score of the game. No. 2 tight end Virgil Green suffered an ankle injury during the third quarter and will most likely be placed on injured reserve, which should push Parham to the No. 2 role behind Hunter Henry, although Stephen Anderson could also play a factor as well. In any case, Parham's touchdowns have mostly been a byproduct of well designed plays as opposed to any sort of actionable focus.

Impact After turning his first career target into a 19-yard touchdown reception Week 4 against the Buccaneers, Parham wasn't quite as lucky Monday. The former XFL standout remains an intriguing prospect, but so long as Hunter Henry is healthy, Parham likely won't have a consistent role in the Los Angeles passing game.
