Allen reaches career high in passing as Bills beat Dolphins

Josh Allen threw for 417 yards and four touchdowns, both career highs, and the Buffalo Bills beat AFC East rival Miami for the fourth consecutive time 31-28

Suffers concussion Sunday Knox won't return to Sunday's game versus the Dolphins after suffering a concussion.
Impact Knox reeled in a 38-yard reception before leaving the game and entering concussion protocol. Tyler Kroft and Reggie Gilliam will handle the reps at tight end for the remainder of Sunday's contest.

Low volume in win Knox caught two of three targets for 26 yards in Sunday's win over the Jets.
Impact The good news is that Knox received two red-zone looks and played 64 percent of the offensive snaps while no other Bills tight end saw more than five percent. He'll have a chance to make more of a dent on the scoresheet against the Dolphins in Week 2, though with Stefon Diggs, John Brown, Cole Beasley, Devin Singletary and Zack Moss all in the fold and quarterback Josh Allen still looking for opportunities to run the ball himself, it's going to be difficult for Knox to see his production elevated to the level of the league's top tight ends.

Impact Knox will be competing with veteran Tyler Kroft for looks in the Buffalo offense. Knox, a second-year player, has the better athletic skills and more upside, so we'll see if he can keep chugging along the learning curve and take the top job to himself instead of having to share it with Kroft.

Heads to PUP Sweeney has been placed on the Active/PUP list due to a foot injury, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Impact The second-year tight end has some work to do to gain some form of meaningful role in the Buffalo offense now that Tyler Kroft is healthy again and set to compete with Dawson Knox for the top TE spot. We'll see if Sweeney can get back at it in relatively short order so he can stake his claim to the No. 3 role.

Primed for bounceback? Kroft is in good position to log a productive 2020 campaign with the Bills, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.
Impact Kroft is coming off an injury-plagued 2019 campaign, in which he had just six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown across 11 games. Now fully recovered from the broken foot that caused him to sit out the first seven weeks of 2019, and having agreed to restructure his contract in order to remain with Buffalo, the 27-year-old should have real opportunities to compete with Dawson Knox for starting snaps in training camp. Kroft showcased solid receiving capabilities with the Bengals back in 2017, when he accumulated 42 catches for 404 yards and seven scores while playing a full 16-game slate. While a bounce-back season almost seems likely, it's difficult to envision Kroft entering elite TE territory, given that he plays in a run-oriented offense, will compete for looks with Knox all season, and at best would be the fourth or fifth option in the passing game.

Ready to go in Year 2 Knox has been working through drills this offseason that will help him reduce his number of dropped passes in 2020, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports. "I think a big...
Impact Knox had the NFL's worst drop rate (12 percent) among tight end qualifiers in 2019, and his 56 percent catch rate was also remarkably low. Even so, those figures alone don't indicate that Dawson turned in a bad rookie season. To the contrary, he filled a major hole after starter Tyler Kroft suffered a broken foot before the season. Knox finished with a 28-388-2 line, far better than most preseason projections put him down for. He will likely be competing with Kroft -- who returned toward the end of the season -- for the bigger role in Buffalo's offense in 2020, but the former offers the bigger upside if he can win the job outright, or even cause the Bills to think about releasing Kroft in a potential cost-cutting move. Knox is worth watching as he continues to get more familiar with the NFL game -- it's worth noting he started his career at Mississippi as a quarterback -- as well as offensive coordinator Brian Daboll's system.
