Impact Going back to last week, Dillon now has logged three consecutive capped sessions as he attempts to see if he can play through a broken right thumb. Ball security appears to be the biggest sticking point for his availability on game days, and he likely will enter the weekend with a designation for Sunday's contest at Carolina if he's unable to get back to all on-field work Friday. Fellow running back Aaron Jones (knee/finger) also has been limited this week, but there are fewer question marks for his status ahead of Week 16 action.

Impact Prior to missing the first game of his four-year career this past Sunday versus the Buccaneers, Dillon was contained to one limited practice Friday in which he was seen wearing a large wrap to protect his broken right thumb. Ultimately, it was determined that ball security was too much of a concern to risk keeping him active for Week 15, and he appears to be in a similar boat as the Packers begin preparations for Week 16. Fellow running back Aaron Jones also had a cap on his reps Wednesday, so the statuses of the pair will need to be watched as Sunday's contest at Carolina approaches.

Unlikely to play through broken thumb Dillon (thumb) remains listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Buccaneers but isn't expected to play, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Impact After sustaining a broken right thumb in Monday's 24-22 loss to the Giants, Dillon was listed as a non-participant on both of the Packers' first two Week 15 injury reports before returning to practice Friday as a limited participant. Considering Dillon was still wearing a cast on his right hand as of Friday, his ability to catch and secure the ball could be compromised, so it's not overly surprising that the Packers are leaning toward holding him out. Assuming Dillon is included on the Packers' inactive list -- which will be released 90 minutes before the game's 1 p.m. ET kickoff -- Patrick Taylor and Kenyan Drake would be the backup options at running back behind Aaron Jones (knee), who appears to be trending toward a return to the lineup following a three-game absence.

Missing practice due to broken thumb Dillon, who didn't practice Thursday, told Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel that he sustained a broken thumb during Monday's loss at the Giants.

Impact Silverstein noted that Dillon was wearing a brace on the thumb, and the running back himself said that he and the Packers need to determine whether playing with the issue will be a hinderance and/or exacerbate things going forward. Dillon will have one more chance this week to mix into drills Friday, at which point the team may make rulings on both him and Aaron Jones, the latter of whom is making his way back from a sprained MCL. Jones' on-field work has been capped the last two weeks, but considering he's actually handled reps while Dillon has not, the former seems like the better bet of the two to be available Sunday versus the Buccaneers.

Over 60 total yards in start Dillon rushed 15 times for 53 yards and secured two of three targets for 25 yards in the Packers' 24-22 loss to the Giants on Monday night.

Impact Dillon drew another start for Aaron Jones (knee) but found running room hard to come by all night, with his longest rush going for only eight yards. The bruising back had an interesting night through the air as well gaining 35 yards on one of his two catches and losing 10 yards on the other. Dillon will presumably be called upon to helm Green Bay's backfield again in Week 15 against the Buccaneers if Jones is still sidelined, despite the fact he's turned in mostly unremarkable results thus far in his chances with the lead role.

Impact Dillon is one of three Green Bay running backs listed on the team's first Week 12 injury report, joining Aaron Jones (knee) and Emanuel Wilson (shoulder). Unlike Jones and Wilson -- who were both estimated as non-participants Monday -- Dillon wasn't forced to exit Sunday's 23-20 win over the Chargers early due to his injury, and he would seem to be in better shape to play this Thursday against the Lions than the other two backs. Perhaps in anticipation of a Week 12 absence from either or both of Jones or Wilson, the Packers signed Patrick Taylor off the Patriots' practice squad Monday to offer additional depth out of the backfield. Dillon, who finished with 14 carries for 29 yards and four catches for 32 yards against the Chargers, would likely serve as the Packers' lead back if Jones isn't able to suit up Thursday.
